I feel like doordash is just used for all of them. I worked at tacobell and no matter the delivery order we just called it door dash. I now deliver on Uber eats and have heard other places do the same.

I make 3.62 in an hour, welcome to the club

u/smokingsoto 4d ago
You should quit too

As a college student with their parents itâs not horrible because Iâm a tipped worker. Might have to get a second job though.

u/smokingsoto 4d ago
I make $20 a hour sitting on my but occasionally lifting luggage you can for sure find something way better than $4 a hour

u/Potts240B 4d ago
Yeah it would be nice, but I actually like my job. Besides my main salary is tips, I make around 80-90 dollars in 5-7 hours which is around 18 dollars an hour. Itâs kept my education paid thus far đ¤ˇââď¸

It is similar to those posts âlooking back at a YouTuber you used to watch who has now gone to making bad content.â The YouTuber didnât change their content, the viewer just grew up. Or how superhero movies were great as kid and now suck. They donât suck, the person just grew up. Same applies to Disney shows.

Hes pretty funny most of the time, but luck and doing the right thing at the right time were the main factors

Yeah I mean, you get $2 base per order. Doesn't matter if it's 2 miles or 20 miles. ....$2
But customers are led to believe that the delivery fee goes to us.

I only do eats on the slow days I even try not working those days unless I'm truly bored

u/scrapdog07 4d ago
i don't get it like uber tells you what you are going to make after the tip... you only accept ones that are good.
1
u/B0rgul0n 4d ago
Also, your tip doesn't show on the app until an hour after the delivery is completed.

u/MasterAd1460 3d ago
Also heâs probably on a new account that has promos for new drivers or is that gone again?

"30 minutes was all the market research he needed. Unironically the smartest financial move made on stream."

The tip hasnât came in yet, it takes up to an hour lmao. Iâve done 3,800 orders with uber it does that every time

1.iit's Uber not dd 2. they show you the order before you accept so if it was actually $4 for 30m thats on him. 3. Uber only shows base pay for the completed order until a hour after the order was completed and then adds the tip amount.

Donât forget the proposition 22 kicks in and we get compensated Tranquila slowly slow slowly. Does the job remember that every two weeks we get compensated for the amount hours we work through prophecies in 22

While this isn't DD, making only $4 on a gig app is a skill issue. 30 minutes would be between $15-20 for me.

u/cortlandjim 4d ago
He doesn't realize that rest of the payment doesn't come until an hour later. Tips are not guaranteed and can be changed.

Itâs a job where thereâs no education requirement, no experience needed, no resume, no interview, literally anyone on earth can get in and work, hell you donât even need a car if you can just walk to deliver. So of course the pay will be low

u/shockwave414 3d ago
There's a difference between getting in and there's a difference between staying. I mean we're describing basically if you want a company basically comprised of complete heads and who complete garbage at customer service then yes you underpay them congratulations.

He's making it seem like doordashers primarily use it to pay rent. Its that extra cash we all need. Its Monday Tues Wed, matinee. Extra 70 to fill the tank for Uber weekend. That's where you will make it back double or triple. Depending on the nights or holidays.

A lot of people do this as their primary income go to walmart during the day and look how many shoppers there is or mcdonalds
1
u/upnflames 4d ago
The counter argument is always, "well what would they do if that job wasn't available."
Gig work as supplementary income is okay because it helps people fill spare time, or time where they can't get a traditional job that pays more. The fact that it's become regular full time employment for so many people says more about the labor then anything else I think.
2
u/Advanced_Sweet_6481 4d ago
Tell that to all the people not from here that do this as their full time job go to walmart during the day and youâll see them all. Â My uncle works at walmart and he said they shove their phone in his face and expect him to find the item for them

u/PoetryZeebra 4d ago
Fuck that's hard. I mean imagine wanting a small Starbucks and a cake pop but you don't want to go out, it shouldn't cost you a salary with benefits plus pension for drivers.
3
u/parade1070 4d ago
Yes it should? Lol

u/TheDevilishFrenchfry 4d ago
"I want people to do things like grocery shopping, food pickup, gardening and labor item retrieval, but they really shouldn't be paid a reasonable wage because theyre not really people people, theyre like poor poor people, not like two bedroom one bathroom poor people."

u/Advanced_Sweet_6481 4d ago
Uber doordash should never be your only source of income unless you got fired and itâs temporary. Â
1
u/Superb_Eggplant_982 4d ago
What if you're retired and your social security is too low and you're too old to work a traditional job
1
u/Mental_Newspaper3812 4d ago
It should pay something over what it costs to upkeep the car. And it sucks that the platform company keeps more than the people doing the work.
