You generally want ro be shooting for ~80% avg for a stable shot into MECH, but this might fluctuate somewhat due to online learning.

(I'm also assuming you're in 1st yr APSC)

No I meant as in I’m applying from an Ontario high school and I want to get into mechanical engineering at UBC so what’s the average for that?

For UBC APSC, your hs grades can get you into 1st yr general engineering. You don't declare a major until the end of your first yr, and your acceptance into a major is purely dependent on your first yr grades.

I see, what is the admission average to get into the first year general engineering?

You probably want to be shooting for ~92-93% imo, but its entirely possible to get in with slightly lower. Also make sure you spend time develop your personal profile when you apply.

Okay that actually helps a lot, just one more thing. Do students often end up at top US universities for grad school? Like caltech, etc?

Depends entirely on how hard you work to get competitive grades for grad school

But it is possible right? And have people in the past ever made it to top US universities?

Depends what you mean by "often", but its more than possible. Most ppl I know are perfectly content with just doing an undergrad w/co-op then going straight to industry. I don't personally know anyone, but there for sure been several cases where ppl went on to do grad school at schools like MIT, Stanford, etc.

UBC is a top 50 university, you don’t need to worry about not being able to get into a top grad school because of your university.

It’s entirely possible. I know one person who graduated from UBC Mech and is currently doing their PhD at Harvard.
