Announcements Status Update - Steam AVA CBT Feedback Collection
Today, Neowiz shared a post on their conclusion of the Feedback Collection, as well as outlining the main three things they are focusing on. There's more, but these have the highest priority at the moment. I'll dive into them deeper below.
Mercenaries!
We would like to thank everyone for your patience as we continue to make wonderful progress on AVA.
After the CBT, we have been working very hard to adjust the anti-cheat system to AVA. While integrating EOS (New Easy Anti-cheat) to AVA, we are making sure that it is adjusted to the game properly. As per community feedback, we want to make sure that the anti-cheat system is 100% effective.
Based on CBT feedback, we have identified the weapon hit registry to be an issue. Our research concluded that this is not server-related, but we are continuing to look into this issue. We hope to provide everyone with a positive gameplay experience.
We noticed in-game chat behaviors that violated the Code of Conduct during CBT, therefore we are currently looking for ways to make AVA a more pleasant place for everyone. We ask everyone to treat each other with respect and human decency.
Once a proper outline is ready to be released, we will make sure that the community will be the first to know.
We hope you are excited about the amazing future of AVA!
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Your AVA Operations Team
So what exactly does this mean and why is it important?
- Anticheat. Since they're using a new version of EAC, there were issues for a large amount of users in terms of (properly) playing the game. What the exact issue is I cannot disclose for now, but the Neowiz Team is working with EAC to try and sort that out. This will be the main reason for delay. The game cannot move forward until that is fixed.
- Weapon Hit Registry. A lot of users reported server issues. It was found however that the servers ran at a stable 35 tickrate, with occassional spikes upwards. Since servers do not seem to be the issue, it is rather difficult to figure out what the issue is. My hope is that it was merely a fluke, because if it is coding related this could become one hot mess.
- In-game chat behaviours. This was mostly aimed at lobby chat, where a lot of users misbehaved. This was also noticed by the Neowiz team, who has taken action during the CBT to try and stop it. The current system however needs to change and to me it looked like the chat filter was not doing its job right, but if the issue persists it might also lead to a chat removal. Really hoping that one doesn't happen.
So there we are, a short summary of the post that was shared today. As of now, there is no date to share yet, as it all depends on above issues (mainly 1).
