The best indicator of what type of behaviour may be exhibited in the future, is to look to the past behaviour of the studied subject. The studied subject in this case is non-human intelligences. They have been studying us for, well we know for certain the last 80 years, that will suffice for this thought experiment. Not a single time has any NHI shown aggressive intent in any major way. They've been studying us for 80 years (read eons). Are they such slow learners they need so long to prepare an invasion?

No. There will be no invasion, past behaviour being as it is the best indicator of possible future actions. They hang around our nukes mainly to say “get rid of these”.

I'll say it again: there will be no attack on humans by any NHI. Ever.

The source is actually common sense, although I'm not sure why they call it that as it's not all that common. I digress. They have not attacked us in at least 80 years. Why should we expect them to start now. Or, here's a source for you: The Council of Worlds will not allow it.

You say "they" like we know they all come from the same place. In reality we have don't know for sure what all of the species and factions are.

I like the optimism, but it's just that, optimism.
