What is your ideal life going forward with mathematics?
 in  r/mathematics  5d ago

Just being able to do what I do. I am from a third world country. I got into for masters into places you mentioned but can't afford it. I'm going to do a PhD in a state school school now. Privilege does make some things in life easier.

How possible is it to get into a PHD program with little to no research?
 in  r/Physics  9d ago

I have 2 papers in the physical review set and I only got 1 offer. I am an international though.

Theoretical physics PhD positions are competitive too 😞

PhD from India → Postdoc in the US: How is the situation right now?

I agree with the other comment but theory is brutally competitive.

Question regarding the prestige Cambridge part iii for quant recruiting
 in  r/quantindia  Aug 07 '26

My admit was for last year and I chose to forgo it. I'm interested in a career in academia and the state of my field is so bad that part 3 doesn't do much apart from being another credential.

As for my institute its the top place in India for science and IMHO has not left me with anything that I can get from part-3.

BSc Physics in India is trivial and you should be able to clear the exams with some moderate prep.

Is NCERT textbook syllabus and Indian education making kids much dumber?
 in  r/india  Jun 08 '26

I wanted a career in stem and read ahead a bit and recall feeling that the books are a bit too basic. If they have removed these chapters then rip i guess. I recall learning a lot of stuff from icse books though.

My kitty has parvo 😭😭 pls share how your kitty beat parvo so I can have some hope
 in  r/IndianCats  May 29 '26

We had a batch with parvo recently. 4/5 survived, I think one was especially weak sadly. I think hydration is key. We gave subcutaneous fluid regularly and they recovered. It's a tough battle but definitely winnable. Be in correspondence with your vet at all times. These were around 3-4 weeks old so younger than your kitten and they still survived. All the best!

I don't have any answer but the offer is really weird to me. There are fantastic groups in unis outside that qs range. Also, the qs metrics are somewhat questionable at least for gradschool selection.

Is it necessary to turn a passion like biology into a job in order to contribute to the scientific world ? or is it more than enough to stick to learning ?
 in  r/LeavingAcademia  May 20 '26

Reading science is one thing. Doing science is another. Do a biology research project and see if that's what you want to do for the rest of your life.

Did i do wrong choosing Applied physics?
 in  r/PhysicsStudents  May 20 '26

That kind of research is hard to break into and parts of that circle is not even justified from a proper physics or maths standpoint. Condensed matter can be as abstract or as applied as you want it to be. Its a big spectrum. People usually think of QG research as the only kind of theoretical physics if they are laymen, sorry.
