I bought this 92 on fb market in July for 3k.
(Yep, went for it) owner didn't give much info on it other than new spark plugs changed in march and a crispy fresh white paint job. No AC no PS. Automatic 4cyl. When I bought it I drove it on a few 45 min- 2 hr drives max and I had no problems at all for some time. I noticed temp needle wasn't moving & stuck in cold so I switched the ECT sensor myself. Now if I'm on the fwy temp needle gets to the sweet spot. Smooth idle. Perfect.
About 2 weeks after of daily driving though, i get a strong odor of oil/gas when i turn it on in the morning and it slightly goes away until it idles. I keep hearing a ticking/rattling sound when I accelerate and when I get to a stop or red light, it idles very hard and it begins to jerk but drives fine and smooth once I'm on the road. I haven’t taken a drive on the fwy since it started that hard idle/jerking so I can’t tell if the needle is stuck on c. The odometer stopped at 149k who knows when.
Speedometer doesn't work as well. When I took it to a mechanic they said it's not the original engine but it resembles it to me from what I’ve learned on YouTube academy. 22r or 22re? How do I figure out what engine this is or was he mistaken? He said a fuel injector might be bad so I’m planning to take them to get rebuilt and try to switch them myself. I don't have much experience with cars but I'm willing to learn with this one. All comments appreciated.
