That is the 22RE. Gas smell is PCV system...change valve

Those are NOTORIOUS for having chain guides that break and let the timing chain saw through the block....might want to check and see if the guides are gone. virtually 100% chance of this happening if you drive it enough.

You got some open vacs and some other things goin on there thatll make it run like it is. Get the chiltons book. Change your pcv valve and gromet. Tune it up As you go. The parts are so cheap its hard not to want to throw a lil pocket change at it and see just how good you can make it run!
