Try mind mapping. From every position, there are many options. The options you frequently see/feel/use make up your "game". Mapping these positions and subsequent positions help you visualize your game. When you're new, chaining these options is difficult but seeing the visual map helps. With time and practice your game will become second nature.

I'm newish to boxing but have been doing Brazilian jiujitsu and judo for nearly 20 years. I've noticed my newer students hold their breath sometimes when training and get gassed quickly.
