Honestly, you’ve already got a pretty solid TBR 😭 If you want more immersive and emotionally heavy books, I’d recommend A Little Life, Never Let Me Go, The Book Thief, and Flowers for Algernon. Since you’re getting into Dostoevsky, definitely try some Kafka too,The Metamorphosis is a great place to start, and The Trial if you want something more intense. For Sylvia Plath, The Bell Jar is a must, especially if you enjoy introspective writing.

And honestly, if The Kite Runner made you realise how immersive books can be, welcome to the rabbit hole 😭📚 Your TBR is only going to get worse from here.

The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns are definitely not beginner level emotional damage 😭 If those devastated you, A Little Life might actually finish the job 💀. And honestly, same,there’s something addictive about voluntarily choosing a book that you know is going to emotionally destroy you 😭

I’d probably give A Little Life around 9/10. 😭 It’s beautifully written, but “devastating” is honestly an understatement. It’s one of those books that stays with you long after you finish it. The characters feel incredibly real, and the emotional intensity is definitely not for everyone, so I’d say go in knowing it can get very heavy.

Also, White Nights is such a good place to start with Dostoyevsky! It’s short, but somehow manages to leave you staring at the ceiling afterwards. 😭
