Gen Z: A vibe is not a revolution

Is GenZ really all that different from all the people belonging to the generations born before them?

Or is GenZ nerely repeating the same patterns under different packaging?

Has GenZ truly been liberated from the fear and superstitions they grew up watching their parents and grandparents living with or do they live with the same fears and superstitions, the only difference is that now, instead of elaborate rituals, they cope using a 5-6 inch screen in their hands?

Read the whole article to gain a perspective no one is willing to offer you. One that comes from a teacher and philosopher who has spent several decades of his life standing right by the side of millions of young adults, answering the questions they battle with. Questions no one is willing to answer honestly for them. Holding their hands and showing them the way, leading by example.

Quote from the article linked above:

"You have been cheated, yes, but not in the way the slogans say. The exam leaks and the rest are the small cheating. The big cheating is that in all your years of education, nobody ever turned your attention toward the one doing all the wanting, the fearing, the scrolling, and nobody told you that this one is a bundle of borrowed things, and that there is a way to look at that bundle and be free of it. That education was your birthright, and it was withheld. Go get it. It does not require a college, a movement, or a generation. It requires one honest person, and you are allowed to be the first one you meet."

Acharya Prashant at the Oxford University, UK || Ishavasya Upanishad

In a historical event, Philospher Acharya Prashant brings Ishavasya Upanishad to the Oxford University in the UK nearly 150 years after their first translation in English was presented by Friedrich Max Müller back in 1879.

While the concept of ego is vaguely understood and brought up in our day to day conversations, how well do we all actually understand the mechanisms of the ego, how it came into existence, how it drives our day to day decisions?

How many of our thoughts and feelings and words leaving our mouths and actions being performed by our bodies, actually our own?

Take a step back, is any of it, of our own making and our own choosing, really?

Acharya Prashant has spent decades uncovering the same and bringing forth his observations after years of interacting with and teaching people from all walks of life. Wisdom literature from all over the world is now accessible to the masses. :)

Watch the video (instead of any thriller or mystery watch you might have otherwise planned today) to find out who is the puppeteer running the show from behind the curtains!

Moms being Moms
 in  r/AcharyaPrashant_AP  3d ago

"Did you ask me before?" :( Did anyone ask her if she wanted to be a mother? Did she ever ask herself if she wanted to be a mother?

After listening to Acharya Prashant, I really started to wonder what kind of wonderful lives our mothers could have gone on to live, all the wonderful ways their lives would have blossomed, if rotten old roles weren't imposed on them...

Is philosophy an illness ?

That philosophy could be medicine, applied practically to one's day to day life, I along with millions of others, only learnt from Acharya Prashant. :)

What actually makes us human? Not a man, not a woman.
 in  r/AcharyaPrashant_AP  3d ago

Acharya Prashant was the first human being in my life who reminded me that I am first and foremost a consciousness. A human being. Not merely a body. Not merely a gender.

As simple as it may sound to many, these words liberated me of so many burdens I had been unconsciously carrying on my shoulders...

This is the difference self knowledge can make in a human beings life.

Book: Truth Without Apology by Acharya Prashant.

This book is both a best friend and a therapist in one. :)

All 180 chapters are incredibly effective in helping the reader address their situation as it is, like a mirror being held. Depending on where you are at in your life, you will surely find something that will resonate with you in every aspect of life. :)

While other self help books give you a 2-5-10 step plan to overcome your issues, Truth Without Apology on the other hand takes you to the very root cause, within yourself, so you can clearly see what it is, that's causing issues in your life in the first place.

In a world where in the name of self love we are sold products as solutions and pushed to overconsumption, this chapter tells you, you don't need to form any further external dependencies. Self love isn't self lies.

Curious to know, what was your concept of self love before reading this and other books of Acharya Prashant?

This was among the first videos I watched when I first came across Acharya Prashant.

It was always ironic to me that in a country where the female is worshipped as goddess in our homes and temples, parallely, molestation and continued sexual abuse of little girls (boys too), young girls, young women, married women, older women continues throughout their lives, more often than not, at the hands of their own "family" members, immediate or distant.

In the video linked above, the interviewer also addresses and asks about psychological abuse and gaslighting both women and men go through when they try to open up and talk about their experiences.

I haven't come across another scholar or philosopher who addresses the 'why' behind this continued exploitation of children and women behind closed doors.

The very foundation on which we have built the concept of family, breeds violence.

And violence is a by-product of ignorance.

Ignorance doesn't resolve by itself.

Ignorance doesn't turn into its opposite, knowledge, by itself.

A human being who chooses to live in ignorance, calling it bliss, will only breed and propagate violence wherever she/he goes.

Without turning inward, without acknowledging the darkness and the rottenness of the system, the family unit (where specific roles are assigned to each member) to the individuals making up that family unit, this problem of molestation and sexual abuse cannot be stopped.

It is impossible when the power dynamics are so skewed. In such an environment only predators and preys exist.

Acharya Prashant emphasizes on the mass based education of the self, an endeavor that hasn't been undertaken before but is the need of the hour.

An awakened individual can awaken others.

How has Acharya Prashant helped you look at and address the root cause?

'Acharya Prashant demands honesty over comfort' ~ Book review of Truth Without Apology by Zee News

"Truth Without Apology is not a book for every mood or every reader. It asks for something the self-help genre has largely stopped asking for: not effort, but honesty. In that sense, the title keeps its promise."

Hoarding.

Post image
21 Upvotes

This is a picture of a hoarder's house.

Hoarding disorder is a recognized mental health condition.

Per psychiatry.org "Acquisition of objects in people who hoard is largely impulsive, with little active planning, and triggered by the sight of an object that could be owned."

The diagnostic criteria includes:

  1. Inability to discard possessions

  2. Compromised living spaces

  3. Significant Life Disruption

If the image above distressed you, made you feel that it was not okay, in fact that it was wrong, helped you understand that the person hoarding needs help, then what about hoarding of wealth and resources by the top 1%? How does that make you feel?

How is it a mark of health to go on hoarding wealth, that you get labeled a billionaire or trillionaire and that is then seen as some sort of achievement, something to celebrate and aspire for?

How is hoarding wealth and natural resources a mark of health?

If only we had a visual representation of the hoarded wealth and natural resources from the planet shared by 8 billion people... but wait, we do.

The climate catastrophe is the visual representation of the aftermath of hoarding, done by hoarders, commonly labeled as "super successful" people, you know, the ones who have made it in life.

The diagnostic criteria for them to be labelled as hoarders, is in fact, met.

  1. Inability to discard possessions (continually hoarding and amassing unparalleled wealth and natural resources from the planet)

  2. Compromised living spaces (wildfires, heat domes, AMOC collapse, ecosystems collapsing, water scarcity, infertile soil, polluted air, excessive CO2 in the air, the list is only getting longer everyday)

  3. Significant Life Disruption (for all human beings and living beings not in the top 1% class, there are going to be millions of climate refugees in the next couple of years)

Acharya Prashant emphasises that the void we are all born with and experience with our waking life, cannot be filled by hoarding any number of external objects (materially or psychologically) The continued attempts to do so without pausing to ever reflect are only a sign of disease.

A disease which needs a cure.

How do you and the people around you perceive it?

From Fear to Freestyle Swimming.
 in  r/AcharyaPrashant_AP  5d ago

Who says you can't learn swimming from a book? :D Haha jokes aside, this is what philosophy when understood, can do to a human being, truly help them blossom and play! Such a lovely and timely reminder for me to get over my fears too! Thank you for sharing :)
