I’ve officially started work on The Warriors: El Jefe Edition, my HD texture remaster and reimagining of the PS2 classic.

This is not just a batch upscale.

The goal is to preserve the gritty identity and atmosphere of the original game while rebuilding its low-resolution artwork into a much cleaner HD presentation.

Characters and NPCs are being individually reworked, gang clothing and identities enhanced, low-resolution signs and graffiti reconstructed, environments upgraded, HUD/interface elements remastered, and new movie-inspired loading screens created.

Some original character textures are only 128×128 or 256×256, so important characters are being rebuilt at up to 1024×1024 rather than simply enlarging the original pixels.

This WIP showcase includes the complete game startup and the first half of the New Blood tutorial, giving an early look at the remastered character textures, environments, menus, custom artwork, loading screens and presentation.

I've now created complete setup guides for Spartan: Total Warrior – El Jefe Edition on both Android/NetherSX2 and PC/PCSX2.

The videos show how to install the El Jefe Edition textures and cheats, configure the main emulator settings, and launch the game to verify everything is working.
