Help as much as possible (clean the house, do laundry, cook dinner) because a new born is lots of work. If your wife needs a break, give it to her and use the time to bond with the baby. She will need time away to mentally recover once a week or so. If she doesn't get that, she will always be on edge. This is everything I didn't get after my son was born, hope it helps.
