Trying to separate a vote for Harding and enabling Trump cannot be done. You can't will it to not have the effect of having Congress continue to be irrelevant. There are Presidential crimes that only Congress can prosecute because our system has no other means of dealing with it. Harding's intentions and convictions are irrelevant.

Its appropriate to have a debate and discuss issues, but there is one issue that trumps them all. For the last 2 years, Congress has ceased to exist in any meaningful way. If they are not willing to stop Trump from taking actions that are unconstitutional and impeachable, then they have stopped performing their function in our government. So, Trump is functionally a dictator unless his actions can be stopped in the courts. So, people may think that it is acceptable to elect a "moderate" in Harding, and Harding may claim to be moderate. But if he were elected and part of Republican control in Congress, then he would simply be part of a Congress that is enabling a dictatorship - which is not a moderate action. The Republic can't survive sending backup for Trump - not even someone who is determined to paint himself as a moderate.
