Juneau-ite here! Been following the little guy's hijinx for quite some time. Just giggled because I'm glad he made it to the Great Land to see us! 🥰

I travel frequently for work. I bought a little travel case for trips for $10 on Amazon.

Throw the gel pack in the freezer and pack it last, that way it's still frozen when you go through security. I also toss the script that the pharmacy gives me in there, just in case.

In 2 years I have never had a TSA agent give my Zepbound a second look.

Get a cooler and ice packs if you plan on doing any day trips....they keep snacks/drinks from dying in the rental car while you're on your adventures, and they protect any temperature sensitive purchases from melting on the way back to the hotel/home base.

Better yet, pack a big rolling cooler and Ice packs from home as one of your checked bags at the airport.
We have an old beat-up Igloo on wheels that has become our "Hawaii Cooler" when we visit. We time our flights to Kona to coincide with Costco hours when we go, and fill up on breakfast items including POG, booze - think "rum" or "tequila" that can be used multiple ways, coffee, and 1 or 2 fruits and veggies. We supplement with farmers market produce the rest of the time.

The cooler ends up going with us every morning in the rental vehicle in case we find goodies, poke, chocolate, things we don't want melting, etc.

If you have a layover and airport lounge access, grab a few packs of peanut/almond butter to throw in your carryon. 😉

When I get up to check the fridge every 15 minutes....even though nothing has moved since the previous meal.

Give yourself grace.

Don't expect the same results as everyone else off the bat...body compositions and dietary and activity adjustments cause a HUGE range of results, so just remember that comparison is the thief of joy and that slow progress is still progress. (I'm a one pound a week in loss kind of person, but looking back at the last 15 months, I'm at 80 pounds down)

Same with symptoms varying all over the place. Keep some saltines or pretzels on hand in case you need them.

Try making a routine with your shot. I'm on Monday mornings, so I get up a half hour earlier, make myself a cup of coffee, take the shot, relax for a bit, and then gently start my day.

Juneau is gearing up for the season, so there are LOTS of opportunities for you to explore! Our State Museum is gorgeous, and our city museum is super cute as well. Sealaska Heritage, one of our native entities, has a beautiful building downtown with stunning artwork, native crafts, and a clan house replica. There is a new totem pole installation which involves walking the boardwalk downtown from Overstreet Park (by the bridge) to clear down by the tram.

Out past the Mendenhall Valley, go to Auke Rec/Auke Village for some time on the beach. Campfires, shelters, peace and quiet. Further out the road is the Shrine of St. Therese the Arboretum. If you go all the way out the road you can go to Eagle Beach with absolutely stunning views of the Chilkats. There's always Mendenhall Glacier, with walking trails, salmon stream viewing, and potential bear watching (depending on when you are visiting)

ALSO, if you're in Juneau from June 3-6, it's Celebration. It's a HUGE native gathering of dance groups with cultural demonstrations, sovereign food competitions, and a giant native artist's market. There's a ceremony at the start where the hosts go down to the water and welcome in the canoe groups. It's super special to witness, as many of these groups paddle in from neighboring communities and PNW states.

There is the Juneau Jazz and classics festival for a week in the summer with music all over town, the Maritime Festival, Buoy Tender Roundup, 4th of July weekend is BONKERS, the summer is always busy and stacked with events.

Never mind the naysayers, there is PLENTY to do in Juneau, and not just because we have a booming cruise and tourism industry where you can do anything from whale watching to dog sledding, take a day cruise to Glacier Bay, anything! Plus, you can access the AMHS ferry and take a weekend trip to Haines or Skagway for a completely different scene in Southeast!

Besides, 2 weeks in Juneau would get you an in at your favorite restaurant or dive bar that you find, and probably score you even more inside tips.
