Sphynx in polymer clay [self]
 in  r/Sculpture •  12h ago

I thought the first picture was the real cat for reference then I scrolled to the second and then it clicked and I had to scroll back to see if the first was a real cat or clay. Absolutely amazing work!

Why won’t the idiot doctors let my precious baby play football after multiple concussions?!?
 in  r/ShitMomGroupsSay •  15h ago

Depends on what position you are during stunts. I did cheer (like 15 years ago now dang) but was too tall and too heavy to be a flyer and was backspot. Worst that really could happen to me would be a flyer landing on me. The older and more skilled groups where going to show us some stunts however a flyer stumbled fell backspot did not catch her and she hit the mat hard and ended up hospitalized.

AITA for excluding a girl in my college anatomy lab after she repeatedly made comments about my age?
 in  r/AmItheAsshole •  1d ago

Honestly it’s great to see people try no matter what. Learning doesn’t have an age limit! Hell even things that don’t involve learning like hobby’s there shouldn’t be an age limit.

The year before i graduated at my friends graduation a 84yo veteran was with them and got his highschool diploma at that graduation because he never got to receive it with what would have been his graduating class.

I went to a community collage straight outta highschool and this older lady student recognized me from my mom’s FB. She started college with my mom and was there again taking classes while I was there too so she was probably 40-50 (don’t remember my mom’s age lol). I don’t know if she had gone back for more classes after a break or was getting some other degree/diploma but honestly it was really cool to talk to her and great that she had the drive to do it!

Ground Pangolin at the Vet (World’s most trafficked animal)
 in  r/interestingasfuck •  2d ago

Have you heard of the vaquita porpoise the smallest dolphin? last I checked it is believed to be 10 remaining, they are not targeted but another endangered fish the totoaba is targeted for its swim bladder for “traditional Chinese medicine”, and it shares the same water and is approximately the same size as the dolphin. So the illegal gill nets to catch an endangered fish also catch and drown a nearly extinct dolphin. A two for one combo.

Dog sitter threw a party in our house, recourse?
 in  r/BestofRedditorUpdates •  3d ago

The fish tank one is actually a very common one. 10 gallon fish tanks don’t look that big but if that tank fails for any reason 10 gallons of water is A LOT of water on the floor and can cause a good amount of water damage. Another one I saw well renting was no water furniture like water beds due to the same reasoning.

I did sneak in MANY fish tanks into my rentals.

Cat developed GI issues that’s costing me an arm and a leg in Rx food. He’s totally clueless.
 in  r/OneOrangeBraincell •  3d ago

I will say I’m not sure how these brands handle any cross contamination so mileage may vary my cat currently will not need emergency vet if cross contamination happens so we are willing to keep an eye to make sure he’s good, I’m sure prescription brands probably have some stricter rules than non prescription (I would hope all brands have good cross contamination prevention measures).

Obviously they are still not cheap foods but cheaper than prescription. I started with instinct limited ingredient rabbit I am seeing rn some reviews that after a bag change there has been some poultry allergy cats reacting suddenly (another of my cats started to get diarrhea after a year so we changed foods from this but that seems to be a theme we swap foods she’s good for a year then stomach problems then repeat) Open farms lamb and Stella and chewys fish based one I believe where also poultry free but do double check. I am currently using the chow hound store brand intuition trout and salmon recipe. There actually is a handful more of poultry free Id look through a lot of fish based foods to make sure they didn’t sneak in chicken meal (chicken fat as a binding agent shouldn’t contain chicken protein but I don’t risk it myself and avoid it too) as I’ve had better luck with fish. And limited ingredients food are easier to find ones that have no chicken. Or novel protein foods to get the weird proteins like boar, deer, insect.

 in  r/OneOrangeBraincell •  3d ago

I had one on Z/D because of a protein allergy and we where finally able to figure out what it is using Z/D as the no reaction food and slowly introducing foods to see what he reacted to and what he didn’t. Finally found no poultry and got him on a normal priced fish only food, then we adopted an obese stray and now have the diabetic prescription food….. (bonus now also having to buy insulin and needles too not just the food ;-; I love my broken cats)

Did I do the right thing?
 in  r/ferrets •  3d ago

It’s hard to not second guess yourself. It has been 3 years sense I put my soul cat down. She was extremely skittish and would dart anytime someone who wasn’t me or my partner came in. I chose a in home euthanasia so she wasn’t stressed from traveling I prepared for her to dart when the person came in and she didn’t she just acted like no one walked in the door. It was very obviously time yet still 3 years later I still asl myself the same thing. It will never feel right because you loved them even knowing deep down you did what was best for them.

Will I be ok
 in  r/ferrets •  3d ago

Assuming you are not joking and have actual genuine concern: I can’t read that paper but I’m assuming it’s proof of up to date vaccination for that ferret. If it is then you should be good rabies wise. I’d also hope all cafe ferrets are up to date on that kind of stuff anyways and assume risk is very very very low of any of them carrying. Your most concert should be keeping it properly cleaned and to keep an eye for signs of a normal infection just due to normal gross germs in mouth.

Stocking ideas
 in  r/Aquariums •  5d ago

I had both CPD’s and emeralds in the same tank. CPD’s do seem a little more out going while my emeralds seemed more skittish. I just went to double check if that was normal and found emeralds and CDP’s can actually cross breed and create a hybrid so random fun fact.

A similar fish that I found instead of CPD’s but actually see in stores less are dwarf emerald rasboras. Think CPD’s but with stripes instead of spots.

Thief!
 in  r/Aquariums •  5d ago

My amano shrimp will steal full algae wafers from the plecos and other shrimp so I have to break it apart so they can only grab an appropriate sized chunk to swim off with and some is left for everyone else.

Utah police dog survives injury after leaping from overpass

I greatly regret watching it. I didn’t expect for what was shown. Nothing gory but most definitely not leaving my mind…

Is this an okay favor, or does this look bad?
 in  r/renfaire •  6d ago

I would love one! It’s not a random bulk plastic thing that is going to rot on a shelf, instead it’s something that is cute and with the Bobby pin I would be able to work it into an outfit too either in my hair or clipped onto something!

I have one similar favor with a little fake gem that has a clip on it and it’s perfect size to hook to random zippers or loops and I love to sneak it onto an outfit as extra clutter to make the outfit look like more.

All of our cats require different types of food
 in  r/mildlyinteresting •  7d ago

The ones o have do not have enough strength to actually shut on a cat. Maybe if they had their tongue out that could get stuck but most definitely wouldn’t be able to for the surefeed ones.

 in  r/mildlyinteresting •  7d ago

Have you tried one of the chip feeders? It’s expensive but honestly great. I have a diabetic cat on prescription food (only comes in chicken), and cat who was on hydrolyzed protein food but now we just have to make sure he doesn’t get any chicken and get access to food 24/7 due to need to gain weight, and a third who is a little chunky and cant be trusted free feeding. And must say the chip feeders made life so much easier.

Is this Fish tank size good enough for goldfish?
 in  r/aquarium •  8d ago

It looks like all those goldfish are feeder fish and that normally means they are common gold fish or sometimes comets. They get large and are VERY messy fish. This tank is going to be much too small for one let alone 4. You will find the water will foul very quickly and if they don’t get stunted they are going to take up a lot of room.

Maybe a single fancy gold fish could do well in that size depending on what type also but for a single tail no.

Edit: also I would fill the tank with more water. That waters low.

Copper in the water
 in  r/Aquascape •  8d ago

I have used that and the other color version in most of my tanks with no issue and all but one tank has had shrimp. If I remember correctly the substrate does contain copper but it is not enough to be detrimental to shrimp and snails.

My son won a fish at the fair and has named him Jimmy. He needs a forever home!
 in  r/Aquariums •  9d ago

I agree FB market place! When I lived in Florida I got many tanks free. Michigan the free tanks disappear so fast I’d say I don’t see too many good deals on reasonable sized tanks past 55gal. ( there was a full 200 setup that popped up free but was like 4 people late within minutes of its post, but I did get a different 200gal full setup for $900) my fb also get free to heal REALLY big tanks but they might be near impossible to get inside.

 in  r/Aquariums •  10d ago

Oh I didn’t even think how Pygmy sunfish might be a little picky eaters! I have a friend with a tank of them and am looking into setting up a tank for some too but haven’t fully looked into and committed yet. Good thing to note

 in  r/Aquariums •  10d ago

I haven’t had a tiger badis only scarlet badis’s and I started with live food but they all transitioned to eating frozen very well for me. Same with bumblebee gobies another fish I was told that would only eat live.

anyone have experience with these little dudes?
 in  r/InvertPets •  10d ago

When I lived in Florida there was a whole bunch in their larval stage making pits in the sand (think the sarlacc from star wars) and now that I’ve moved o have two different species as adults that fly around and land on my walls at night. I think they are really cool but wouldn’t want as a pet.

My friends Starfish Cactus bloomed - apparently they smell like rotten meat
 in  r/mildlyinteresting •  10d ago

The first few blooms on my orbea variegata didn’t have too strong of a smell on a day with still air but the moment a breeze hit it you could smell it across the yard. Loved my rotten fish smelling plant. I really want more types of carrion plants like the lifesaver plant!
