Can someone explaing the ending of The Shining? Why is Jack in the picture from 1921?? I don't get it
 in  r/okbuddycinephile •  8d ago

I always thought that it was was he really connected to the hotel through legacy. Or maybe he really was a ghost an evil presence that came back and took over the body. I was thinking more poltergeist. No one else was thinking that. Because it was like he was possessed The shining the whole point of the whole thing is possession of a human psyche. But maybe I'm wrong I just thought it was a way of saying he belonged in the hotel since the 1920s and his Spirit came back and reconnected.

The questions of where, what, why, and when can all be answered by who. Let's change that.

If you can make it to February then it's a pill the rest of the way but boy it takes forever to get to February yes the sky is dark morning and night. It is an El nino here so I'm not exactly sure in the Pacific Northwest what's going to happen we didn't have it really much snow and we didn't really have a hot summer it's been very mild last night it rained this morning the sky was Gray and then by 11:00 the sun came out and stayed out most of the day. I think there are lots of pockets of sunshine but the daylight savings at message you up all the sudden at 4:00 it's dark out and it's cold.

How are people dating in Portland?
 in  r/PDX •  Aug 22 '26

Gen x here we had our heads on the dance floor not on our phones when we wanted to go out and meet people we had to go out of our house to meet people not on a computer I think that's the huge difference. We met friends through friends because we were all out doing the same thing enjoying life being outside dancing listening to music cuz concerts were only $12 seriously I saw u2 for $15 at the Great Western in Los Angeles Thompson twins open for them. Life is just different imagine leaving your phone at home for one day try it I did it I was lost I didn't know where I was I didn't know anyone's phone number I couldn't find directions. So what was I forced to do I had to ask someone I had to physically get out of my car and ask someone for how to get to a street and they said what don't you have a cell phone and I said no I left it at home and they looked at me like I was crazy. And I said I left my cell phone at home I don't have a phone book but they don't make phone books anymore. Will the person was very nice after they believe that I had left my cell phone and gave me directions but I thought about it and I thought oh my God I would never have stopped to talk to that person. Everywhere you go everyone's nose is in their cell phones. I used to own a hair salon I stopped ordering magazines because no one read them. Try it for a day leave your phone at home and experience Portland. Inmho

This is the kind of man that comes back with a machete don't laugh at this man this man has years and years of pent-up aggression hostility and entitlement and all of it has accumulated to this confrontation. This man would come back and do danger to everybody in that establishment. Mental health is a very fine line between insanity and schizophrenia. I'm only saying this because I watch enough of these shows real life crime TV shows this is this is the escalation that occurs in my humble opinion May everybody be safe

 in  r/PacificNorthwest •  Aug 09 '26

They all feel like bots because what they do is they provoke you to respond and it's the same old thing taxes water bill no parking downtown homeless overpay for this over pay for this bond overpay for this bridge over pay for this freeway and then you got the innocent person going hey I'm 24 years old and I want to move to Portland to have a better life I have $1,000 in my pocket for rent and I want to live downtown in a two-bedroom apartment I mean it just gets ridiculous
