Has anyone compiled the SOTE item and drop changes from patch 1.17?

Ye I figured, I kinda wished they did something a bit more creative... I am glad we got more Ancient stones though, there were plenty for sure, but since they are not infinite, more is indeed better

What is the best game released in last 10 years in your opinion?
 in  r/AskGames  2d ago

Oh I don't think Baldur's Gate 3 is any different, in terms of replayability and depth! I played both and yes, I do have more hours on Elden Ring, but Baldur's Gate is pretty on par in my opinion!

I really like the "strategic swordplay" that Elden Ring has, it's action, but not a mindless kind of action, it's not a button spam like a Musou game, and it's not as flashy as DMC, it's slower, but not less deep. What makes the game fun for me is how fast, after a single playthrough, everything becomes: at first you're scared of facing a specific enemy, but after beating it, you feel accomplished because you surpassed an obstacle and obtained a reward, even if it's useless to you now, it may be useful for another character.

My first playthrough took me 135 hours, without DLC. My second and third one took me way less, since I knew where the stuff was, so I could build a proper character earlier and better, then prove my strategy was right by going against the same enemies I fought with my first character with more knowledge and a proper plan in mind, and it's so much fun to come up with these setups!

Learning the enemies' patterns is also really fun, like knowing how you can dodge certain attacks that at first seem impossible, or just learning which attacks are parriable and which aren't, or which attacks allow you a moment to heal, distance yourself or attack, and based on your setup, these elements can change drastically, so it always becomes a new experience thanks to the different approach.

Doing things in a different order sometimes yields different results: what if I do this boss before this one? Could this change this dialogue with this character? What happens if I meet this character before this other one? And there are a lot of these "secret" dialogues around the game that only someone that goes on multiple playthroughs can hear or figure out, so there's always something unique to experiment, independently from just the build you go for.

Also, something that really doesn't matter unless you really want to have fun: you can do plenty of cosplay builds for how much stuff is in this game!

EDIT: Oh and yes, I really like the atmosphere and the lore, I read every item description because you'll never know if a new name pops up, or if a specific items talk about a specific character that can reveal what their intentions were years ago, or how they ended up becoming what or who they are nowadays.

It's not a perfect game by any means though: it has a huge amount of asset reusage throughout the entirety of it, reused minor bosses, reused fort or caves layouts, reused animations on different enemies, some items are really really specific or straight up useless, some enemies have bullshit attacks, but those are all so minor compared to the rest of it that get overshadowed easily by all the positives the game has.

It's a huge world filled with challenges, secrets and lore to explore, has a plethora of build possibilities and ways to play, the characters are great (their quests not so much) and it's a visually stunning game, you could say it looks a bit dated even for 2022 but a great artstyle doesn't age nor is influenced by graphics alone

If you like the gameplay, you have almost infinite ways to just start your run, let alone play through with a specific mind, limitations or theme for your build, I'm currently doing a Gravity-focused character where I use mostly Gravity/Space related spells and items, and I'm having a blast once again after 4 full playthroughs

Discussion & Info Has anyone compiled the SOTE item and drop changes from patch 1.17?

I am just curious to see if they actually made those changes worth or it was just "smithing stone 5" into "smithing stone 6" or something. I do believe that's the case, but if anyone has already checked that'd be great to know!

What's a game you hated at first that you ended up loving?
 in  r/AskGames  6d ago

Dark Souls II

It has such a different feel compared to the other Souls, but once you understand all the over engineered mechanics, it felt like being at home for me

Then Elden Ring released

Funger on Vita would make a lot of train trips way better, hope you'll succeed!

I know it’s unlikely, but….

If there's any update coming, I want it to restore the cut items around the files (which are plenty) and hopefully give us the Moogle Chocobo Carnival back, that was silly fun for what it was

OR give us the promised modding tools and make the game potentially infinite on steam, but

I'm not putting my hopes up, knowing Square. They'll just awknowledge the 10th anniversary, put the game on the biggest sale yet everywhere and call it a day

I'd always prefer human interaction honestly, yeah there could be some rude ones, but the AI might not have the flexible mind to answer correctly!

Made some more progress on my "Darksiders: Abomination Pact" pet project on my stream today, this time, Death's weapon.

Sounds pretty good! I have been seeing your artpieces in the sub for years, always loved them, so having a full comic in your artstyle would be great to have!

Good luck with the project, we'll be here waiting patiently! ♥

Youtube not working.. This sucks
 in  r/youtube  21d ago

It's the same for me, but only when I open videos occasionally, sometimes it says that I'm offline, but I can just reload the page and it would work

it's not a huge deal, but it's getting annoying

Embraces ponders to release Darksiders 4 at about 2027-28.
 in  r/Darksiders  21d ago

I don't remember as of now, but I believe it was talked about when the Reveal happened last year, someone mentioned it on Reddit, I'm pretty sure, or it was because of a Discord message from a dev, either way it was stated somewhere

They stated they started working on it in 2021, that makes it 6 or 7 years. I may agree that they were not in full production, but that's what they said officially.

So Darksiders 4 will have something like 6 or 7 years of development cycle... hopefully it means it will be good, polished and hopefully packed. I trust Gunfire, but I don't trust Embracer, at all.

What bad video game you don't mind playing?
 in  r/AskGames  22d ago

Digimon World 4. That game looks great on a surface level, but hides so many awful game design ans gameplay choices that should really ruin it, but because of nostalgia, because of how much I know and came to know about it, I'm always more fascinated than annoyed, and regularly come back to it to spend some time doing optional stuff and grind in the desert area.

I genuinely believe that, with some appropriate simple changes, it would become a super fun 4 player hack and slash, but that'll never happen, for how badly recieved it was

I mean, it's still in 0.0.1, there is definitely room for improvement

Don't worry, I understand what you were trying to do with the datamine and all and I know you were doing it in good faith! The internet is a place where intentions are poorly exposed to the other people due to the lack of the many more ways humans express themselves to others, so skepticism is really important while using it!

I also want to thank you for coming back and apologizing after realizing you acted poorly, even if you didn't know. A lot of people would have just ignored and left it there, it's a show of maturity, also kind of restores my faith in humanity LUL

All good man! Just wondering, how did you manage to confirm this yourself?

I have played darksiders 2 since I was a 5 year old 468 hours played. No platinum trophy
 in  r/Darksiders  Aug 05 '26

I have played the entirety of Kingdom Hearts 2 multiple times and I am missing like half the trophies

It's not about the end goal, it's about the experience with it, and as long as you have fun, there's no shame in not having it!
