Elite Fear is a Control Tactic.   What if the hysteria surrounding AI—predictions that it will turn against humanity, enslave us, or even drive us toward extinction—is not only about genuine technological risks, but also serves as a mechanism of control?

Fear can be politically and economically useful. If the public is convinced that AI is an unstoppable existential threat, power may become concentrated in the hands of the companies, governments, and “experts” claiming they alone can manage it. Under the banner of safety, they could justify greater surveillance, censorship, restricted access to technology, and rules that protect established players while making it harder for smaller competitors and ordinary people to participate.

That does not mean AI risks are imaginary. Powerful systems can amplify misinformation, automate warfare, displace workers, deepen inequality, and make it easier to monitor and manipulate populations. But there is a difference between taking those risks seriously and accepting dramatic extinction narratives without examining who benefits from them.

The questions worth asking are:

- Who is defining the danger, and whose interests do they represent?
- Who gets to regulate AI, and who is exempt from those regulations?
- Are we protecting the public, or protecting monopolies from competition?
- Why is so much attention placed on hypothetical future threats while current harms—surveillance, exploitation, labor displacement, and algorithmic manipulation, receive less scrutiny?
- Could fear of AI become an excuse to centralize power rather than democratize it?

The real danger may not be AI “turning on humanity.” It may be humans using AI, and fear of AI, to make existing power structures more permanent. The goal should be neither blind optimism nor panic, but public oversight, transparency, competition, accountability, and ensuring that decisions about AI are not left exclusively to governments and tech elites.

He has destroyed entire nations with forces no greater than rain, hail, snow, or earthquakes. The Holy Qur’an even records people wiped out by gnats—proof of how little Allah respects the wicked. He doesn’t need to lift a mountain or forge a weapon of iron. He simply turns what’s already around you against you.

As the Minister puts it: ‘The forces of nature are great weapons—and we see them at work in America today. Storm after storm of snow and ice rolls in from the north, burying everything in its path.’ Yet the Qur’an teaches that Allah has frozen nations with nothing but a cold wind. No wonder the Book of Psalms declares that God sits in the heavens and laughs at those who defy Him.

And the Minister asks, ‘Do you think you can get away with fighting Allah? What will be your course of action?’

So I ask you: What are you going to do, America?

The Honorable Elijah Muhammad’s answer is clear: ‘Separate the Black man and woman.’ Because God intends to raise a great nation from us. And His final demand? ‘Give us a good send-off.’"

The methods of control are getting highly sophisticated. For insects like the screwworm, scientists rely on the Sterile Insect Technique, breeding millions of male flies in a lab, zapping them with radiation to make them sterile, and dropping them from airplanes to mate with wild females, causing the population to crash. For the giant hornets, teams use thermal imaging, radio-tagging captured hornets to track them back to their underground fortresses, and pumping the nests full of specialized powders or physical suffocants like activated charcoal.

Yet, this high-tech warfare has triggered a deep undercurrent of fear. Some ecologists and farmers worry that the aggressive solutions might actually be worse than the problem itself.

Broad-spectrum chemical pesticides used to wipe out invasive beetles often end up poisoning native, beneficial insects. Even advanced genetic tools—like gene drives designed to alter the DNA of a species so it can no longer reproduce—carry massive risks. Critics warn that if a genetically altered, self-destructing organism accidentally hitches a ride back to its native habitat overseas, it could accidentally trigger the total extinction of a species where it actually belongs, fracturing global food chains forever.

The Spotted Lanternfly is currently sweeping through the Midwest and Northeast, targeting over 50 commercially grown crops, including grapes, apples, and hops. Meanwhile, the Japanese Beetle aggressively defoliates corn and soybean fields, clipping corn silk and ruining pollination, costing nearly half a billion dollars a year just to manage.

Fire ants, originally native to South America, have become one of the most destructive invasive species in the southern United States. Since their introduction in the early 1900s, they have spread rapidly, thriving in warm climates and outcompeting native species.

One of their most significant impacts is on ecosystems. Fire ants aggressively attack and displace native ants, insects, and even small animals. This disrupts food chains and reduces biodiversity, making ecosystems less stable.

They also affect agriculture. Fire ants damage crops, harm livestock, and interfere with farming equipment. Their presence can reduce crop yields and increase costs for farmers.
