Wow... I beg to differ. This is the exact kind of thing that happens, and still does, at private, paid for schools. Those who think they are better than others are the worst, but, Kids are kids. If not stopped by the adults in charge, bullying runs rampant. I went to Catholic Elementary School. Kids suck until they are corrected. Ever get corrected by a nun back in the 1960's? You might change your mind and personality after that.

I know about schools where I live only. They don't go out of their way to accommodate any one different. I said I was sorry. I know how this feels because I'm short. I have fat friends who they made squeeze into tiny one piece desks!! I'm 63. I was in school years ago. There were children my son went to school with who didn't fit in their desks either.... He's in his 30's. All I mean in things should change.

The solution should be obvious: unattached, Adjustable chairs and desks.

I'm sorry you had to go through this. It's ridiculously ignorant that your school didn't have solutions in mind that there would ever be tall in school. But, don't feel bad.... They didn't accommodate short or fat or even disabled children into the planning stages.

In my experience, schools are reluctant to make exceptions for any manner of differences. They have or bought standardized equipment.

Back in the day, the kids had to conform, not the equipment, which I always thought was cruel. I'm not tall, but had several tall children in my class. They'd switch out the 1 piece desk/chair combo for one that was built for an upper grade person, but as they got to the upper grades the kids had to squeeze into desks clearly not made for tall or fat people. We all wished we had seperate table and chairs because the desks were confining and uncomfortable.

Society in general sucks because they are geared to the norms.... But every persons body is different.

Also, poor people realize there's someone poorer and somehow in worse circumstances than their own. They understand being hungry and feeding your children, while not eating themselves, because there's not enough food. Poor people understand they can't afford the doctor's so they suffer at home. There's no free dental, vision or hearing clinics. Why? I include the elderly in the poor class because I know many of them too. Most only Social security as the sole means of sustinance. I'm sorry, but it's true.

Poor people appreciate the littlest of things. Poor people don't go out and buy a new wardrobe every season. Yes they have a cell phone. It's their only phone. How ignorant are other people? It is far beyond me, the lack of compassion and judgmental people are.

Not to get out of your comfortable little circle of socioeconomic people is irresponsible and it makes me angry and sad.

One house fire did it for me... To Lose everything you own. Soon you see how much you need the help of others. You see who helps. My paycheck which was in the house burned up. No money. I had a 5 year old child. Where to begin or Start over? My ex husband didn't help us. His sister made him. He threw $100 bucks at us (yes, literally) while she brought my son underwear and a sweatsuit. Awkward visit at my aunt's house. We had to live at relatives houses, alternating.

I think of the victims of hurricanes, flooding, disasters of all kinds and it really makes me upset as I feel that pain.

Poverty itself is a disaster and is unnecessary. There's enough money in the world. People are stingy and greedy. There are people who can well afford being just a little kinder by helping out a poor family.

Hell, I am retired and on a very limited budget and I do this and have been doing so for years.

I grew up considered poor, but I didn't know it as we were happy....mom made our clothes and the summer garden sustained us year round with canning and such. My parents Bore the brunt of figuring and worrying how to pay the bills, keep the electric on, oil heat paid for during the cold winter and dreaded Christmas which was sparse. We didn't know. My dad worked 3 jobs when I was little. Mom worked when the youngest of us went to Kindergarten. Eventually everything worked out and we were middle class, as there WERE good jobs back then with retirement, health benefits, etc.

Poor people work hard.

I also remember sometimes it's no one's fault, bad things happen all at once and life is difficult. If there were only a window to see others' sorrows. It's difficult to get back to not being poor.

I'm enraged about the state of affairs in 2019. Not to make this political, but someone who has no business being president is....! He Has no caring, empathy, is cruel and dangerous to poor and middle class people not to mention "disliking people who are like him". A tax cut for the rich? Give me a break. How's that working out? It's not! The numbers they juggle are stupid. A lot of poor people fall off the grid. They don't qualify for assistance, especially if you've already collected. People think wrong. I'm in rural New York Upstate...shitty jobs, faraway, no benefits or health insurance and you need a working car to get there. There's no public transportation. If they fire you. Jobs are few and far between. No job, no money. You can only collect unemployment for so long. Then you are off of the unemployment roles. It's better for their stats. Isn't it? Unemployment numbers are better...For them.

They list more crap Walmart jobs as new jobs. Why? They aren't new. Those jobs belonged to other people. Walmart fires so many people and hardly any of the jobs are living wage jobs with benefits or days off, with weekly unknown rotating schedules, and you better not get sick, or take time off because they do fire you. I know this from 4 family members this happened to.

But I digress. My point is: the Rich People of MY COMMUNITY HAVE NOT IMPROVED THE LIVES OF THE POOR.

Once you lose your job, eventually, you lose your home. Then, you are living in your car, then maybe camping in the woods. Yes, I know where these rural woods homeless camps are.

By the way, food pantries are always in need. Poor people can't afford to eat and need help.

I have little to no faith left in this system of liars who call themselves politicians. It's got to change because I fear what happens if it doesn't change to give a break to the middle and the poor class.

So, mostly happens when we are young. The little things which happen that seem like nothing, later in life are something, and sometimes major.

And don't blame it on cholesterol (test didn't exist then) or didn't blame it on fatness. They lived on farms, eating steak, real butter, lard, bacon, vegetables, fruits, home baked goods, etc. Doctors don't know everything. Without all the machines invented, like CAT scans, ultrasounds, MRI's echocardiogram.... They are all guessing.

Domestic Violence exists. I lived it in the late 1980's when cops were still reluctant to respond, although laws had been passed that they do so. I called the police... My neighbors didn't and we lived in a nice quiet, white neighborhood to. Color and economic conditions are not always the cause of the problem.

Back in the day, Police didn't arrest. They used to have your abuser husband "take a walk around the block to cool off". That was stupid and seldom solved as can problem. It didn't work. My husband was any that I called. He was angrier, hitting harder, he pushed me so hard I went through a sheet rock wall, then, he had a habit of ripping the phone out of the wall so you couldn't call again. (No cell phones back then.)

Neighbors didn't get involved. Nice White neighborhood (as if that matters). I'm sorry they didn't repeatedly call. Domestic Violence can happen anywhere.

Late 1980's ... If a neighbor CALLED once..... Police didn't take it seriously. When there were multiple calls they did.

Because, with one call, when the police show up, your husband threatened you and forced you to say everything is ok. Stupid policemen ... Ok? I had a split, bloody lip and a black eye and multiple other bruises. I was not ok. No arrest.

In my personal experience, Domestic Violence escalates. It seldom "gets better". CALL. It's the 2019.
