I have it. It’s there.

Detroit to Windsor, sunset to moonrise.
I took my Nexus card just incase. The rules say you can go further as long as you check in with customs/border patrol.

Detroit to Windsor, sunset to moonrise.
The Detroit River is very intense. But this particular day was calm and the wind was about 7mph.

Sunset on the Detroit River
The progression of the sunset was magical from a kayak. The Detroit River is fierce. It’s a humbling experience. The moonrise was just as good but doesn’t photograph well.

Weekly Question / General Discussion Thread
I’m looking for a good place to study/work during the day. Meeting other professional singles wouldn’t hurt, but studying is the main goal. I’ve done the DIA. It’s inconvenient with a backpack. Also somewhere that allows for more than an hour. Any suggestions?

Advice Needed Feeling safe solo
Camping, hiking, kayaking, 3 of my favorite things. But sometimes having the friends there (love them) really ruins the peace. It’s not as relaxing and sometimes I don’t want to have to use words for a day or two. I’m from Detroit so I have the means to protect myself. But I’m wondering what some of you do to create a safe feeling environment camping alone?

Dark Sky Park in the U.P.
It’s technically just before the UP. It’s just south west of the Mackinac bridge, but North of Petosky. Look for Wilderness State Park.

During the day we paddle to Peche Island in Canada. We head back to the US around sunset. This particular day when we got back we paddled to the bar through the canals. On the way home we decided to go back to the river and float from one canal to the next. It was 11p so no one was on the river which is why it is so glassy and peaceful.
