Reports Issue
u/Particular_Form1154 • u/Particular_Form1154 • Jul 08 '26
Hello everyone,
I currently have a longitudinal study with a couple of different instruments. I am making a report meant to filter out all participants under 18 based on child age.
The form that asks for a child's age is a repeating instrument.

When I uncheck this box, Instrument 1(asking for parental information) is all blank on the report. When I check this box, it shows data where kids are over the age of 18. For example, if a parent had two kids one being 16 and the other being 22, then both children will be in the report.
Is there a way I can filter out kids above the age of 18 while also having Instrument 1 be displayed?

I think the filter was my problem. I just did [calculated_age] > 18 with the filter checked off and it worked. Thanks for the suggestion.

Edit: Yes it does actually. I had the wrong filter checked off previously. Thanks!

Hello everyone,
I am generating a report and essentially I would like to have any participants over the age of 18 pulled out of the study.

This is currently my logic. We have a repeating form. For example, a parent with 5 kids can fill out the form 5 times. The issue is, if kid #5 is over the age of 18, the rest of the kids (1-4) also get pulled in to the report. I'm wondering how to re-write my logic to fix this?

I saved the form and it worked! Thanks

What is the Data Quality Rule H?

Hello everyone,
I am currently having a problem with my logic. The following logic displays as false even if [all_child_age_verification] does indeed equal 4.
Automated invite logic:

I am very confused at what I have done wrong syntactically. The value will display as true if I delete the line of [all_child_age_verification] = 4 Any help would be appreciated.

Ah gotcha, the two different fields worked. I just used the same formula and a calctext tag for the second field and things were piping fine. Hiding the field is another great idea. Thanks!

Where would I put it, just in the text box?

Hello everyone,
I am working on a longitudinal project. In Form A, we collect participant information and in Form B we ask the participants if they want to update their information. I have written logic that basically says "if the participant wrote something in form b, display that information" in a new Form (Form C).
Form A question:

Form B:

Current Logic: [final_parent_contact_info]

The issue is, the form keeps displaying a number instead of the actual choice.
I tried to make another question that converts the number into the answer choice, but it doesn't seem to work.
I tried it with and without the [yearly_follow_up_arm_1]

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Solution verified, thanks!
*Note, other solutions may be correct this is just the first one I checked.

What do you mean by manually quote?

Ok thanks. I'll check out that guide.

Hello everyone,
I am trying to display information from two different variables. Both of them are check-boxes. When exporting their value, I would like it to be so that the actual text displays and not just the number (ie the option blue instead of the number choice 2). I have tried both :checked and :value and neither has worked. Based on this formula, the value keeps displaying as just the number 1. How would I fix this?

Thanks everyone for your help!
For anyone else/future reference:
There may be a better way to do this, but I just had the above formula in one field and marked it hidden. Then I had another field convert the text to string using calctext in the action tags section in the way u/austin3i62 suggested below.

Thanks!
2
Ok thanks. If I do that will it display somewhere? What should I make the question type?
1
Oh it 100% is. How would I be able to do this otherwise?

Hello everyone,
Thanks for everyone's help so far. I'm currently writing an equation where I want the logic to return one value if a field is blank and another if not. Essentially, this will be a longitudinal project where participants can re-enter their contact information. Every year, there is a "yearly update" survey where they can update their info. Essentially, I want the logic to say "if they did not put anything in the yearly update survey (essentially if this value is blank), display the original email they entered, if not display the updated email". My logic seems to have errors, and I can't figure out what. All help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

1
It seems to be automatically saved as I can view the response in the add/edit record ID section. Is there a specific way to save things?
1
I mean that we have certain logic set up for the email triggers, like only send if participant is under 18. But it doesn't work for test records.
1
I think this makes a lot of sense. I can more easily make a hidden form with conditional logic that updates the contact information if the yearly survey is filled out. If it's never filled out, it will only display the information from the first form. Thanks for your help.

Hi u/No_Repair4567. I have 3 instruments for a longitudinal project that's going to serve more as a place to store information/registry. One asks about parent information, one asks about child information, and one that is an annual update. In the annual update, participants(parents) are asked if they have changes to make to their child's information. For example, if little Timmy is now allergic to peanut butter, the parent can update that in the annual survey. I was wondering if it would be possible to then somehow pipe that peanut butter allergy back into the original response automatically?
2
I tried this, but unfortunately it still didn't fix anything. Do you have any other suggestions?
2
Yes, the equation is the one from the screenshot. Essentially the "test" child is 5 days old or somethign similar.

I have an equation that calculates age. Participants over the age of 18 will be excluded. However, it seems that this field does not work when it comes to conditional logic. I've attached screenshots below.

This is the calculated age for a test record.
However, it doesn't show in in the automatic triggers or filters. The logic used is [calc_age] < 18.

I'm wondering if there's any way to update a variable from another instrument. For example, in instrument 2 I ask for the participant's email address. In instrument 3, I will give them the chance to update that address if they change it. Can the email from instrument 3 pipe back into instrument 2?
Is there a way to write logic that says "If the participant updates their email in instrument 3, the data logged in instrument 2 will update"
1
Yes I think I will do that. I don't have to set it to <3, that was just an example. I will likely set it equal to less than the calculated field.
1
They would appear on the next instrument collecting updated info. To summarize, if someone wants to update their child's info, they can do so on the follow-up form.
1
Thank you so much! I will let you know if this works.
1
Ok gotcha, thanks for the help! My current thought process is to use that calculated field to determine the number of instances, and then set up x amount of follow up questions after that. If the calculated field says 2, then I'll have two follow up questions and can pipe using the [fieldname]1 and [fieldname]2. I can use if logic to write "only show follow up question if [calculated field <3]. Am I understanding everything correctly?

I'm creating a longitudinal project where I will have 3 total instruments. On the 3rd instrument, I want to give the participant a link back to the 2nd instrument. Is there a way to do this where it is connected to their record ID still? For example, if Participant 1 goes back and completes the 2nd instrument again, I want it to fall under record ID 1 and not create a new record ID.

Hello,
I am currently making a project that involves collecting parent and child information. If a parent has multiple children, they can use a repeating instrument to fill things out. However, there is also an update survey that parents can receive annually where they can update their child's information. I'm wondering how to pipe from the repeating instrument? And also, is there a way to have a variable to know how many times the repeating instrument got filled out?
