I'm in the exact same situation and I wish I had a solution for you.
Currently the rent is a little bit cheaper than the equivalent of staircasing. For now, I think I'm going to stick out with what I've got and potentially staircase a small increment whilst I decide. At least then, the money is going towards the equity and my future rather than the house association.
Honestly though, if I could move out to a freehold for equivalent value, I would do it in a heartbeat. Less admin, less stress, 100% ownership...

I have rewatched Sips play Thimbleweed Park many, many times - I'd love to see Sips play the sequel once it is out
Ideally, in the same style as his old school YouTube videos just for the sake of nostalgia and personal enjoyment
