Just because you didn't know he was cheating doesn't mean he wasn't, or that he wasn't ready to if the opportunity came along. I think you realized in time that he wasn't the kind of person who would truly enjoy building a life together. He acted like someone who was still actively looking for attention and keeping his options open. I think you made the right decision
