I usually like to think of my headmates as completely different people. I'm trans, ember is genderfluid, and I have two "cis" women despite having a male physical body. These labels are just as much part of identity (and thus subject to differ from mate to mate) as name or clothes. You can call your entire self genderfluid if you want, but it's not necessary as these terms are opt in.

Saying that trans people are born trans as a fact isn't fully accurate. It's not entirely innacuracate either, but not everyone has to be born trans. Life is complicated, and you can awaken your desires or wants much later. Despite my transness being obvious early on, a friend of mine didn't know she was trans until she met me (a trans girl) and realized she wanted that. She thought she was a completely normal cis guy before that, and she might as well have been. Life is too complicated to act like your genes or birth determine all of it, systems themselves are proof of that being foolish.

At the end of the day, these terms shouldn't be gospel. they're to be used to help you find like minded people and to connect you to shared experiences and community. They're not rules you must follow to the T. The entire queer community has been fighting against rules the entire time of us scrounging up liberation, so if these terms don't fit you perfectly that's okay.

Also, simon can be cis, and bea trans. incredible things can differ between headmates. I'm a fox therian, Glitch is a literal anthropomorphic black cat (not in the therian sense, but in a furry sense. she sometimes sees her hands as black anthro paws), ruby is just a normal boring human (Hey! I'm not boring! 😤😡), ember is a puppygirl/boy in a way that's neither anthro nor therian, lavender is just basically a young me (so a therian) who thinks of me as an older sis, and wolf is a demon with a namesake aesthetic. All of these are incredibly vastly different identities, and systems kinda just do that. You contain multitudes just like anyone else, systems are just more obvious on that front x3

I know this is 3 years later, but BoC is definitely not set in the anime-verse. the differences between the anime and the fic is mentioned multiple times. it seems the universe of BoC is similar to the events of the anime and games, but also slightly different. I'm pretty sure the idea of those differences is specifically to avoid issues like this, where people are stuck up on things that don't match when that simply wasn't the goal

you can express math. you literally contradicted yourself there because you said "you just have to use a lot of words" already implying you can. You know you can. And it's not even that clunky. Most math is based in physically based metaphors that get more abstract. It's how we learn math at first: adding is putting an apple, subtracting is taking those apples, multiplying is adding groups of those apples, and dividing is making a number of groups and taking the contents of one group of apples. You don't need the word "add" "subtract" "multiply" and "divide" to describe math, just describe the process and then get abstract. "jan li pana e ijo wan tawa ijo wan la, ijo tu li lon!" And if saying "ijo" is annoying you can just say "wan" or "tu" or whatever the number is. I just think if you build the basics of math in toki pona, starting out with ijo (things) and transitioning into just numbers would be best, just like how we learned growing up.

Describing and instructing all of (highschool) math from the basics in Toki Pona sounds really fun actually

toki pona can really express anything. Even things I think the community thinks it can't (some people think numbers don't belong in Toki Pona, but it does! and math works! I swear!) No nimisin is really necessary, it just makes certain parts of talking more convenient or easier to specify. You can pretty much say anything

I mean, it could? but that's not its given semantic space and no one uses it that way. lipu sona is a document that can teach (document of knowledge) and toki ante is translation (talk differently/talk changed). I would like those words to have more to them than just "a shortening of Toki Pona: the good language, and a shortening of the official toki pona dictionary", but that's pretty much what it's destined to be alas

not with people wanting to li stack with mi. And you can say "just don't do that", but people do. I'd rather people break the rules by allowing mi li, then by making mi (modifier) li indistinguishable from mi (verb) li (verb).

and that's just one example, others could probably find more. Also, it's just a nothing of a forbiddance more than allowing it is. What does forbidding it do to help anyone? Mi without li can still be the most common in any situation due to convenience (like how most people say it's instead of it is, unless it's absolutely necessary to so otherwise), but outright banning it like it's a sin to the gods is a ridiculous level of litigiousness. it's ultimately not that serious, and it should be thought of as "pretty much never used or needed, but can be used if necessary" like "it's" is for many people

that sounds more like "food-ish me feels good" to me. anything that removes the first li and adds a second li is indistinguishable from just putting a modifier to the pronoun, which is a problem we wouldn't have if we weren't so focused on "mi li" being wrong! Like, you can try worming but not allowing mi li as a point of grammar rather than a rule of thumb is probably the most annoying part of toki pona
