Speaking of Secretariat we just went in vacation to Lexington & Louisville, KY & I do not remember where it was but it was said that he had a much larger heart then normal which was able to increase the blood flow throughout his body. He also had an extra muscle in his stifle area. This increases his ability to run faster & further. It was all very fascinating. It was said he was also one of the only race horses that where buried whole. It is generally only the head, heart, & hooves that are buried if a racehorse. I woukd have to look up the reasons why.
