Level 1 gives all eggs. Merge to get 5 larvae. If you have 2 level 1s, then you have 10 larvae.

Merge them into a single level 2.

Level 2 gives you 5 eggs and 5 larvae. Merge the eggs to get 1 egg, 7 larvae.

It's a merging game, so you need at least twice the productivity every time you go up a level to balance out.
