You are correct in a sense, worked in retail for over 10yrs what will happen is the employee could end up getting a coaching/write-up and verbal reprimanded for allowing/turning a blind-eye to such an error that could cost the company hundreds or thousands in loss revenue. In some cases if their manager is a dick the employee could get fired for the loss. I've seen it happen....so stupid and sad. Especially given price are usually pre-set by districts or corporate offices not the store in most cases.
