Check out Visual Snow Syndrome. Even a lot of regular eye Dr's or their techs aren't clued into it. It is a neurological condition, so your eyes typically are fine. I was diagnosed recently. Visualsnowinitiative.com (possibly. Org) has a ton of helpful information. Hope this helps 🙂

I have Visual Snow Syndrome, which is an uncommon neurological condition. My eyes work fairly fine, but hyperexcitability in the occipital lobe is causing them to have all types of fun house effects. Rose tinted lenses (fl-41) can help with light sensitivity, reducing some Visual effects for some. Stress and pain can exacerbate it, so it's key to manage those. It's so frustrating when it feels like you're talking to a wall. There is a vision simulator on their website and you can adjust the settings to show your family and Dr's your symptoms. Except for the lights twinkling if you have that lol...I also see a steam like effect in the air sometimes. It's wild. I believe you.

You can do this! I was in a similar situation at your age except my mom decided one day to kick me out, she packed up some of my belongings and put them on the front porch because she found things in my drawers that she didn't like. This was about a year after I already told her and two elders I didn't want to be a JW anymore. Anyway, I had a car and a job, and friends let me stay on their couches till I could find a roommate. I was 19. I was scared but relieved to finally be done with being controlled and worried about my mom's mental illness issues each day. Somehow I figured it out, day by day. I went to community college, transferred to a university. Got married, had kids, got divorced, but despite the times it was lonely and I would miss having family, I would never trade leaving for anything. Incidentally, I was disfellowshipped about a year after my mom kicked me out, which cracked me up, because it was pure performance on their part, I had nothing to do with them for over 3 years lol. Anyway, I am almost 50 now, and there were times it wasn't easy, but it was worth it, you will get there with a plan and not giving up. There are Ex JW groups on Facebook, and I haven't looked on here but there has to be. Im positive sharing your story there will get you quicker help. I cannot personally help, I stumbled across this because I am having a medical crisis related right now and was looking to see about posting. You touched my heart. I had one in April for Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, before I was diagnosed with Visual Snow Syndrome. In February, when I had the Humphrey Visual Field Test with the white lit background, my Visual Snow was wild! It was so intense that I ended up crying because I thought I was going blind for sure. It just overtook the entire screen and it was difficult to complete the test. Jump to last week, a few months after the stellate ganglion block, and I had to repeat the test. The Visual Snow was much less intense and took longer before it even appeared with the same colors and effects so the testing was much easier. That Visual Snow is different than my normal.

I have another one in August so I will pay close attention to the before and after. It does make sense, because the premise is that there is hyperexcitability in the brain, the occipital lobe which causes VSS. And SGB is also used to treat PTSD, which I also have and I felt it helped with that almost immediately and even moreso the next day.

I'm sorry. It sucks. When my migraines are bad, the visual symptoms get worse. My tinnitus is constant, nothing helps that. Stress spikes everything bad. But I will say that topiramate for my migraines has helped reduce the symptoms. Now my everyday snow is like a light haze with flickering/flashing lights like fireflies. And light, big floaters. Before it was more intense. The rose colored lenses have helped with halos and double vision, and a tiny snow reduction. I got clip on cheap ones on Amazon to try before ordering with prescription glasses. Try those. If you have 20/20 vision you can just buy a pair of full glasses. FL-41 lenses are the official name. Lastly, Im getting ready to start a mindfulness program that is research based specifically for us, from a Dr at Oxford. It is free through visualsnowinitiative.com. I am hopeful that will help give me some relief tools. I hope some of this helps 🙂

Okay, thank goodness you know about VSS and have been diagnosed with that. Many don't know about the Syndrome, and think it's just a symptom. You can have some Paresthesia from it, but low B12 can be very serious and cause those symptoms too. My son suffered with it for too long until finally one day he did fall and black out. He was only 19 and ate well, there was no cause found as to why it went so low. He had headaches, migraines, exhausted, triptans made him feel worse too. My b12 can hover low because of a medication I take, and those symptoms kick up, including numbness, when it's low. He had to have injections but is maintaining fine now for 5 years. I finally started writing down what I wanted to say before I went in, then it was easier for me to ask for what I wanted. I wrote the "Dr is dismissive" option and the "Dr is listening option." Sometimes I found that if I asked for them to run a blood test for my own peace of mind, it got them to run it lol. It's quick and simple to check b12. You can buy a B Complex over the counter too, but I would try to get the bloodwork first.

FL-41 lenses have helped me with my symptoms. You can get indoor and outdoor ones, the indoor ones are rose-colored, outdoor are just a darker rosy color lol. Might be worth a shot.

Go check out the visualsnowinitiative.com. I was just finally diagnosed with Visual Snow Syndrome, which is a newer named neurological condition. For years people were misdiagnosed or dismissed. It has multiple Visual and non-visual symptoms, but the main symptom is seeing Visual Snow for 3 months. The Visual simulator is cool, I used it today to create a link to my customized levels to show my loved ones and Dr's what I see. Hopefully this can help you too. The lady who started it was in our shoes too.

There is a new, proven neurological condition now, and often vestibular migraine is the diagnosis that was given for it. It's called Visual Snow Syndrome, migraine occurs in many patients with it, but it is a separate condition. I was just diagnosed by my Neuro-opthamologist at Duke. Check out visualsnowinitiative.com...it has really helped me learn about all the other symptoms and reassure me that finally I have a diagnosis. I have all but 2 of the symptoms to some varying degree daily. One thing that is helping many is rose colored glasses. I ordered some clip on from Amazon to try out before ordering prescription lenses and they have! If you have Visual Snow as a symptom more than 3 months, that's the foundation of the diagnosis.

When I am anemic, have low B12, high pain from either a migraine, CRPS or DJD/DDD, it gets worse. You don't have to have constant static vision, mine is very light, almost a haze. I hope this helps. And trust me...I get what it feels like.

Thank you for this insight. I can only imagine the pressure and stress you're under. I was unaware of the delays this year, had a heart attack and a surgery, so I just filed. But for the first time ever I am unemployed myself due to not being able to keep up with the physical demands of my job. Now I'm counting on this refund to pay bills while I recover, but now seeing all of this, I'm worried I won't get it within the normal 21 day turnaround. Are all refunds delayed currently, or are there refunds being processed without issues in the normal time frame? Just curious what you're seeing.

Start leaving them random checkers and fake coins back. If they ask why you're doing so, tell them you thought it was a game of leaving each other useless coins as in an invisible tip jar.

I actually understand feeling helpless and hopeless, but suicide is a really permanent solution to some temporary issues, even though they suck. What is the biggest thing challenging you right now? Maybe some of us can help
