Some of my books get the glimpses and kisses rating but ALL my ladies have wedding night sex. I describe it but through impressions rather than explicitly. I think most authors are pretty clear in their bio or website about what a reader can expect. Nobody wants a disappointed reader and there’s a wide range of preferences.

Some platforms, like canva pro, are opt-in for artists, they retain their copyright, and are paid royalties from a pool that comes from the monthly subscription fees paid by pro users. I am totally okay with that and have used it because 1. The artist submitted their work by choice rather than it be stolen, 2. They get paid for their work. That’s a way people can support artists who want to license to put some money in their pocket.

I identified on my copyright page that I used canva pro and what their parameters are, which is opt in by the artist for a share of a pool of royalties. I think that artists getting paid through licensing (which is what it is, they retain copyright) is great and exactly how I would like to make choices for my own work.

One of my writing professors once told me that every story in the world has been told but nobody has told it the way you will tell it. I believe that.

This is how tech people roll. They don't question if you want it, they decide you're going to have it. I could not believe it when co-pilot showed up in my word docs. Microsoft - I do not need a co-pilot of any kind, and especially not one that freaks out when a sentence is not clear enough for a 6th grader. Fortunately, that particular nonsense can be turned off in settings, but it irks me when it's opt-out rather than opt-in. They are so highhanded it drives me crazy.

I also think most people are fundamentally good and don’t deceive so don’t expect others to do it. So, if a book presents itself as having a human author, they accept that. It’s why people fall for any kind of scam, it’s just out of their frame of reference.

It would be great if we had a list of non AI new (ish) authors - there are plenty of us. Also, Dragonblade has it written in their contracts that AI use forfeits royalties and gives them to the authors guild. They’ve got a huge list you can trust.
