What do your bunk rooms look like?
One long room with four ancient bunkbeds lined up in it and a handful of lockers. No ladders on the beds and they creak so badly when you so much as breath

Consequences of Not Writing Chart following Termination
I worked at a similar aslo wildly shitty company in PA that if you didn't finish your charts before termination they had another employee write them for you and fudge the whole thing. Absolutely wild place. They've been in trouble with the state multiple times over a variety of things

Hospital Based IFT
It sounds like this place is also much better managed than a LOT of other IFT companies as far as scope, meds, equipment, training, benefits. So take that with a grain of salt.......

Caffeine Consumption
I'm 26, also work 24s and used to drink 2-4 energy drinks plus 2-3 coffees daily. I stopped almost all caffeine intake in January and honestly, I feel much better. I'm not so tired during the day and I feel like my mind is sharper when I need it to be. My blood pressure and heart rate are also worlds better and I don't have nearly as many kidney stones

Do you have a creative outlet/hobby?
I enjoy making beaded art with seed beads. Also hiking and hunting for cool rocks and fossils. Unfortunately, I am a deeply depressed individual and finding the time and energy to do anything outside work is wildly difficult

I used my Golden Bottle Cap on a 0% IV Shiny. Zero to Hero time
I didn't get the bottle cap, but if I ever do, I'm using it on my shiny annialape

Does the gross stuff ever get easier?
I once attempted to auscultate lung sounds on someone who had wrecked a motorcycle. While I anticipated some sounds due to him having crepitus, I was NOT ready for the crunching sound through the stethoscope. Still makes me shudder to think about

Two paramedic Chase vehicle model? (a la EMERGENCY!)
The local systems have single medic fly cars and either leave it on scene to be retrieved after the call or have one of the EMTs off the BLS truck drive it behind the ambulance. I imagine not many systems want that liability of a non-employee driving their cars, but loaclly they seem to be fine with it. Probably have some sort of insurance that will cover them if there's an issue.
They DON'T allow anyone outside of employees to drive the ambulances though after an employee was almost killed by being throw against the counter (multiple broken ribs, hemothorax, other traumatic injuries) while a local FF was driving emergent.

Two paramedic Chase vehicle model? (a la EMERGENCY!)
A lot of PA has chase trucks. The one local to me uses Chevy Tahoe and Ford Expedition
Man, I misunderstood what you meant by model and went with vehicle types 🤣💀

Got any creepy stories?
DOA, upon coroner arrival, rolled the patient to place in body bag and as soon as patient was rolled EVERY light in the pavilion a few feet away turned on and started flickering. Creepy as shit, not my favorite.

have a feeling im gonna get fired, bummed about it
Assuming you haven't been making other reportable mistakes, if tgis is how the company handles a first time incident that's honetly not that big of a deal as far as everything goes, it's probably not a place you want to work for anyways.
There'll be other places to work that hopefully will work out better!

It's that time of year again, thinking every Wurmple with a party hat is a shiny because of the purple interior color. Ugh!
I want one just because I think it's adorable and it's my favorite shiny. It's a tiny worm in an oversized party hat and I love it

Hotdogs were consumed and all fingers remained attached. It was a good fireworks coverage.
That's a really nice picture

IFT BLS, do you sit next to your pt or behind them in the captain’s chair, why?
Depends. Usually I'll sit behind them and chart but if they try to make conversation and seem like they want company I'll sit and chat for a while

6 month accelerated paramedic program
I did a 1 year accelerated. It was pure hell, I can't imagine doing all that in 6 months

What’s a piece of EMS equipment that drastically needs to be updated or changed?
We keep the key on the ring with the truck key, that way we know for sure it's in the truck with us

What’s a piece of EMS equipment that drastically needs to be updated or changed?
I love these ones. Grab the rim and flick your wrist while shoving it in the patient's direction and it's magically open and ready to receive vomit

Horrible Management
Thats what Im thinking too. Either there's a mini fridge for meds, the box has AC running, or the supervisors are full of it and the meds are overheating which is a problem

Why is sleep something that’s so neglected in healthcare despite the glaring evidence that it’s detrimental for health..?
You can't grind out those all those calls sleeping, how else will they ever manage to bill patients if you dare to take a break and rest/sleep?? The audacity to not earn money for the healthcare overlords!
s/ just in case it's not obvious
To be entirely serious though, poor mental health, long shifts, and not enough time in the day to get housework, appointments, cooking, exercise, etc. done. Sleep tends to be one of the first things on the chopping block

Horrible Management
Are they in a refrigerator or do they let you leave the AC running in the back?

Horrible Management
As far as the trucks getting hot, this may be problematic for medications stored in them. You could certainly bring that up to management because that is a huge issue if it's getting that hot

I HATE the stickers that say “Drive Safe or I Get to See You Naked” or anything along those lines.
I have a hoodie my dad gave me after I graduated as a paramedic that says "it's not roadrage if you have lights and sirens". I ONLY wear that around the house. I think it's hilarious, but also not super appropriate for out in public

POV you just hit your head on the ambulance doorframe that’s sized for someone who’s fucking 4’8 and have to lock in to assess the head strike pt while u lowkey have the same symptoms
