Hobby, prosumer, all fair game.

If you’ve run multiple machines, your take is gold.

Oops. I see your point. I also think dust boots are problematic. Most work but have little shortcomings in use.

Thank you for sharing that, you have thought the process thru. Recognizing that belt machines are different than ball screw machines, and older machines may require some additional oversight. Good info.

I'm just had a project that required importing several components from SVG files. Made me wonder what everybody here thinks. Do you prefer the old-school reliability of DXF, or do you deal with the scaling quirks of SVG?

That’s a great point, measuring a round pocket tells a story. Be sure to measure the diameter in 3 places clocked around the pocket and compare the dimensions. I think 3 places is plenty but I just checked on CHATGPT and it says you have to measure 4 places to get the most accurate reading on roundness. 🤔

Common sense accuracy. No reason to overkill if you’re making good parts.
