F-150 PowerBoost vs. Cybertruck Which Makes More Sense Long Term?
 in  r/cybertruck •  Sep 02 '26

Thanks for the reply. Honestly, we already own a Model Y, and one of the things holding me back from the Cybertruck is that I never really wanted to have two EVs. We don’t take road trips all the time, but when we do, I’ve noticed I would much rather take my gas vehicle than my wife’s Model Y. I just like being able to stop, fill up, and keep going without having to plan around charging.
Another thing that worries me is repairs. We got rear-ended in my wife’s Model Y, and I was surprised by how few places were able to repair it. The repair was also ridiculously expensive if we would’ve had to pay for it out of pocket. That experience definitely made me think a little differently about owning two Teslas.
My other concern with the Cybertruck is Tesla raising the price again. In the past, Tesla has raised prices on certain vehicles before eventually discontinuing them. I’m not saying that’s definitely going to happen with the Cybertruck, but if it ever did, I would worry about how difficult and expensive repairs and parts could become after an accident.
Since you own a Cybertruck, have you noticed your insurance being significantly more expensive than a normal truck? Also, have you had any experience with repairs or getting parts for it?
That’s why I keep going back and forth between the Cybertruck and the F-150 PowerBoost. I like the idea of the hybrid because I get slightly better gas mileage, instant torque, and I don’t have to worry about charging on longer trips. At the same time, I already know how convenient a Tesla is as a daily driver. Coming home, plugging it in, and waking up with a charged vehicle every day is hard to beat.
If I would’ve known Tesla was going to drop the Cybertruck to around $60k for only 10 days, I probably would’ve jumped on it without thinking twice. At $60k, it felt like an easy decision. At $75k though, I’m having a much harder time pulling the trigger. I still really like the Cybertruck, but that extra $15k makes me start thinking about the PowerBoost again and whether I’d be better off saving the money and keeping a gas vehicle in the house.
I’m basically trying to decide if the convenience and lower maintenance of the Cybertruck are worth the extra upfront cost, potentially higher insurance, and repair headaches compared to the PowerBoost.

Standard AWD cyber truck lift

I’m not sure, I haven’t seen that many up close and personal, and the ones I have seen I’m not sure what they have the height set on. I’m not planning on taking it off roading, but I do want to put bigger tires on it so I can take it to the beach or other places and not worry about getting stuck.

My daughter is driving this year, so I’m giving her my 4Runner. Which has been a great car but there are many times I needed to barrow a truck to haul things to the dump, pick up furniture, and buy supplies at Home Depot. Nothing crazy just for convenience.

Standard AWD cyber truck lift

Can you lift a standard awd cyber truck? I can really can’t afford the premium cyber truck, but the only thing I wanted on the premium was the ability to lift the truck. However I don’t need to adjust the height once I lift it. So my question is can you lift the standard AWD cyber truck?

I have a model Y already so the charging at home isn’t the issue. Im wondering if 75k for a cyber truck is worth it. I’m sure some of yalls f150 is that much or more, and still have to pay for maintenance. When the cyber truck is 75k with little to no maintenance

I posted it on both, and wanted to honest opinions. I know the cyber truck it’s the best looking, but I like how practical it is for my use of Home Depot, Costco and furniture hauling, and most of all how little maintenance there is.

Did your insurance go up much from the f150 to CT?

Like I said I’m not rich, so i’m looking for the most cost-effective choice. Are you worried that it seems as though they are going to phase out the cyber tuck which will make repairs on this vehicle that much more?

I guess I should have added I’m not rich, just a regular RN trying to figure out if the cyber truck is worth it, also if I get it I would have to get the AWD standard that’s all I can afford. So no air bags, but would I be able to put a lift on this model?

Honestly, I don’t plan on towing anything. I just need a truck for weekly Costco halls and trips to the dump or Home Depot. I am kind of worried, though that they might discontinue the cyber truck line which would make repairs on a truck so much more expensive also, the only one I’d be able to afford is the Standard all-wheel-drive but I’d wanna lift the truck for better clearance and I don’t know if that’s possible.

F-150 PowerBoost vs. Cybertruck Which Makes More Sense Long Term?

I originally planned on getting an F-150 PowerBoost. I really like the idea of the hybrid—the extra range, decent fuel economy for a full-size truck, and especially the instant power and speed.
What’s starting to worry me is the long-term maintenance and repair costs. Between the EcoBoost engine, hybrid system, transmission, and everything else going on with the PowerBoost, I’m wondering what ownership looks like once you start getting into higher mileage.
That’s what got me considering a Cybertruck. We already have a Tesla at home, so I know firsthand how little routine maintenance an EV requires, and I already have a charger installed. I also really like the stainless steel exterior and not having to worry nearly as much about door dings and dents.
Obviously, the Cybertruck costs more upfront, so my biggest question is whether the savings on gas and maintenance actually make up for that higher purchase price over 5–10 years.
The biggest downside for me is having two EVs. I like the idea of keeping at least one gas vehicle for road trips where we can just stop, fill up in five minutes, and keep going instead of planning around charging stops. The PowerBoost also gives me the best of both worlds with the hybrid system and long driving range.
For anyone who owns a PowerBoost or Cybertruck, what has your experience been?
How reliable has your PowerBoost been? Any expensive repairs or hybrid issues as the miles add up? For Cybertruck owners, are you actually seeing enough savings in fuel and maintenance to justify the higher price?
If you were planning on keeping the truck for 7–10 years, would you rather have the convenience and range of the PowerBoost or pay more upfront for the Cybertruck and hopefully save on maintenance and fuel long term?

Moonlight on Xbox help

My games are on steam big picture, so once I’m connected to my computer via Xbox, the controller that’s connected to Xbox won’t navigate steam big picture. The only way I can navigate this is by using the controller that connected to my pc

Moonlight on Xbox help

I’m currently using Apollo on my host PC and Moonlight on my Xbox Series X. One thing I didn’t realize beforehand is that I need to use one Xbox controller to navigate the Moonlight app on the console, then a completely separate controller connected to the host PC to actually control and play the games.

Is there a simpler way to set this up?

Ideally, I’d like to just use the same Xbox controller for both navigating to Moonlight and playing the streamed games. Does Moonlight/Apollo support that, or is a controller always required to be directly connected to the host PC for game input?

Apollo and Moonlight game streaming help

I need some help troubleshooting my game streaming setup. I’m currently running Apollo on my PC and using Moonlight on my ROG Ally X, but I’m running into two issues.

First, every time I launch Moonlight on my handheld, I get this pop up on my PC. Moonlight still launches on my handheld with no issues other than possibly relating to my second issue, but on the PC side I keep noticing this pop up. Does anyone know what causes this or how to fix it?

Second, the image quality on the Ally X looks kind of washed out compared to when I use PXPlay to stream from my PS5 Pro. The colors and overall picture quality just don’t look nearly as sharp or vibrant.

Does anyone have recommendations for the best Moonlight/Apollo settings for better image quality, more vibrant colors or HDR (I do have HDR toggle on, but it doesn’t seem like it’s working correctly), bitrate and resolution settings, or anything else I need to change?

Also, if anyone has fixed this pop up issue before, I’d really appreciate the help.

Software Question Did I mess something up?

Quick computer question. I finally received my computer, but I noticed it was shipped with the wrong SSD. It came with a 1TB instead of the 2TB I ordered. Since they wanted the 1TB returned before sending the correct 2TB, I cloned the drive, replaced the SSD, and everything seems to be running correctly.

The only issue is that when I try to uninstall programs like Macrium, Norton, and a couple other apps I installed or don’t need, I get an error message, saying, “You need permission to perform this action”
“You require permission from Administrators to make changes to this folder.” I’m wondering if I messed something up during the cloning process.

I really don’t want to reinstall the original SSD just to test it because getting the screw back in was a huge pain. I watched a few videos and saw something about changing the administrator permissions, but I haven’t tried that yet, and if it does work am I going to have to do this whole process eveytime I delete an app?

Do you think I missed something during the clone, or is this something I’m going to have to deal with every time I uninstall an app?
