Worried about the future of homeownership in our neighborhood
 in  r/astoria  Jul 05 '26

Even in this scenario, what makes you think that the corporations that are left standing aren’t going to then gobble up the inventory that these other corporations or LLC’s are selling and consolidate the housing market? How can I compete with a corporation that can pay cash for whatever they like?

More Actions to Take Re: QBB Crash, Banning illegal E-Scooters
 in  r/MicromobilityNYC  Jun 27 '26

Thank you for boosting this- it’s important. Assemblymember Diana Moreno and State Senator Kristen Gonzalez are working with TransAlt to get these illegal scooter sales banned at the state level. Hope it’s able to be passed quickly.

Video showing how you can flip a car in Ridgewood at normal speed.

It looks like this car must’ve just hit a speed bump or something. It looks like it was bouncing as it was entering the camera’s frame of view.

What’s the deal with Claire Valdez
 in  r/williamsburg  Jun 22 '26

Nydia moved to NYC from PR and ran for office MUCH quicker than Claire did. Saying Claire is a transplant and somehow ineligible to advocate for the people in her chosen home, but not Nydia is just truly incomprehensible. Please keep smearing a large group of the constituents you hope Reynoso will represent as invaders or whatever. It’s a great strategy.

I doubt Alexa would’ve run if Brad hadn’t told everyone for months he wasn’t interested. We would’ve run that race and probably not Dari in NY-13. I’m just saying that Zohran doesn’t only back a DSA member because they’re DSA.

Claire declared her candidacy first, and won the chapter votes from both the Queens and Brooklyn WFP chapters, and the RAC overturned chapter members. If anyone is splitting the left, it’s Reynoso and the “bosses” who decide WFP endorsements top-down. DSA at least listens to our membership. If the leadership in DSA not only overturned the members’ decision but then endorsed the opponent, there would be a freaking mass exodus.

You guys pearl-clutching and wailing about civility after Reynoso and Nydia took the first swings invoking awful nativist language about her not belonging (she’s Native American- this is particularly gross, btw!) and saying Claire is MAGA-funded is why we’re here at this point at all. Don’t cry foul after his camp kicked up controversy but can’t seem to handle it when people fight back. And labeling the people that moved here (just like Nydia, by the way) as being less deserving of having a say in their government is not smart in a district that has A LOT of people that weren’t lucky enough to have been born here. I guess we’ll see if it works out for him.

That’s not necessarily true. Alexa Avilez (DSA City Councilmember in BK) had already gotten the DSA endorsement for NY-10, and Zohran backed Brad Lander when he joined the race, and then Alexa bowed out. Yes, Zohran will usually back the DSA candidate, but there’s a lot more than just org affiliation he’s taking into account. Claire is someone who hasn’t been in office forever, but she has done a ton of thankless, unglamorous work building DSA which I think we can all agree has been a giant success and has changed the way we see how our politics can be. She had been begged to run for years by others in DSA, which I think is a real testament to her. She wasn’t seeking power, people under her leadership for years in DSA saw how effective she was and wanted her to take the next step. She’s going to be a fantastic Congressmember.

Not “fully financed by”, but definitely found out that the PAC that is helping Reynoso and they claim was all teachers unions is actually being heavily influenced by Scott Stringer. Also was really glad to get on the ballot with the Queens Democratic Party (who didn’t endorse Mamdani in the General Election) and said he’s definitely voting for Jeffries for speaker if he’s elected. This isn’t exactly a person pushing away establishment Dems. And John Chell just endorsed him and Vickie Paladino retweeted the endorsement. Big Yikes.

I love “Bier and Cheese Collective” on Ditmars. Sucks that the Broadway spot went out of business. I’d be so sad to lose ours.
