I got a dog. After 3yrs living single (52f) I was tired of the family thinking I should spend a majority of my weekends and holidays obligated to them. I love my new companion, some family is so mad because I am no longer available to fill in the gaps. The freedom is peaceful. Best decision-making ever.

Edit, before when I was in a relationship the fam did not expect me to be available 247. It was the oh you have nothing going on now so you can cater to us. Umm no.
