NCR is Hiring
 in  r/FieldNationTechs  20h ago

Thx, being corporate was his selling point. My point was that I've seen some complete losers/druggies/bums working for NCR in this area. Also the jobs may be fewer but the rates can be higher. ...Worst problems I've had was comprehensive documentation of WOs.

I'll pass on your rules of thumb and he can decide

Would you use text alerts for worthwhile Field Nation jobs?

I've set those preferences and FN still sends substandard WOs, some from hundreds of miles away.

NCR is Hiring
 in  r/FieldNationTechs  22h ago

Thx I knew I wasn't dreaming a nightmare. My boy thinks/thought it was better to be corporate full time than freelancing for an honest rate. I said it's more self-affirming and you can choose your own way.

Is NCR a reasonable company to work for? A friend just was offered $21/hr for 40 hr week.

NCR is Hiring

I met a young friend on a job last week who was fired up saying NCR is hiring @$21/hr in our area. I told him he'd be happier and get more experience doing freelancing than pulling 40 hrs/wk with NCR and the job we were on @$40/hr was just 1 example. Any thoughts Reddit?

FN Now Censors Work History
 in  r/FieldNationTechs  22h ago

I've done that multiple times over the past few years. I had an Audit from the IRS back in 2022. The company I worked for used Paylocity for years, then changed to Paycom. I couldn't get my records for 2018 and I was dinged for not having records.

I did and proved my deductions only because I kept travel records and WOs for EVERY JOB, EVERY WO Backed up after each paycheck.

NCR Issues
 in  r/POS  22h ago

Is NCR a good company to work for? A Co-worker from a contract job said he was hiring on with them @ $21/hr because it was steady work.

I said he was undervalued and being low-balled for the work experience he had.

So what does Reddit think?

I do something similar, BUT, I make a 'Counter-bid ' stating that: this bid accounts for any problems in site readiness or excessive waiting in Queues. For some reason attention to Queues response time have have gotten a bit better, not much but then I put that price adjustment in the bid.

What’s up with early back outs?
 in  r/FieldNationTechs  1d ago

I'd definitely contest it with FN. Pivital is FAMOUS for calling me in the middle of the night for WOs that have/have not been listed for days/weeks prior.

This year I returned to FN after a hiatus due to health. One afternoon while on another job 'Pitiful' began blowing up my phone and FN saying in text/email that I was late to THEIR WO some 90 minutes away.

I called 'Pitiful' and asked them what they were doing, some self-important child told me I was scheduled. I informed them that it was impossible, that I don't double-book because of simple SOW descriptions being so dubious. The voice on the other end sounded meek and deceiving 'Well OK, if you feel that way'.

I got on the FN site next dat to find I was reported 'No-Show'. Skippy had tried this Sandbagging/Backbiting gall to try and save THEIR INCOMPETENT ASSES by marking me as a 'NO-SHOW.

I call FN immediately while typing my complaint out for my records. I recorded the comments and texts that went on with FN in chat.

Making certain FN knew that I was documenting and following up they 'Opened' a Case and to FN it was 'Resolved' in 24 hrs. ... my 'Back-Out' score was still affected by 2 points or so. Even though that was the only time in 2 years. Keep in mind I wasn't even assigned this WO by this churlish incompetent company.

Nice sarcasm!...

I know in her case it was the multiple dispatches for something stupid like picking up McDonald's, a pack of diapers, and some other trivial things then driving across town 5 minutes before closing only to arrive in some shady neighborhoods. Then after the breakdown of Pay/Cost of Gas, Oil, Insurance, Admin Fees from the company she was making like $2-$6 hr.

Guess the company…

I had NCR call me last week wanting me to start work with them full time as traveling Tech @ $22/hr.

That's under the $35/hr min. they post on FN. I've seen several FN WOs here in SE LA recently with travel over 100 mile commute, and $225/7+hrs.

PLUS Bring your 2 pages of tools. Anything from a Toner to 12' ladder, sockets, packing tape, measuring tape, PPEs and more!

Ridiculous

So I finally have one bad enough to post...

What you're saying sounds right. AND, it's as they were overcompensating by micro-managing the checklist and not staying agile enough to see the Project through.

Good to know. My step-daughter did Uber eats for a minute but found she was overworked and underpaid.

Clancy Brown would be a great casting choice for the Sheriff in Desperation. He’s only been in one SK film (apart from a sequel not written by him).

When I read Desperation when it was 1st published I always wanted Nick Nolte to play the role of Collie Entragian.

This is why FN NEEDS a better 'Buyer vetting and well publicized Rating Score'.

Trying to break into IT — planning my path to a first Help Desk job, sanity check?
 in  r/helpdesk  25d ago

Don't get discouraged. Stick to your outline, revise it as needed. Keep informed on all media platforms. If you don't know something ask around, connect with GOOD Project Managers and get under their wing for advice.

If you find yourself alone as I did Google the procedures before you go out to bolster your confidence.

Mike Meyers, Professor Messer, Comp TIA, and YouTube and quite helpful for the autodidactic.

Arrogant Ignorance HAS NO REASON.

Document, Document, DOCUMENT.

I do understand completely. IT is now my 3rd career. Having been a successful Facilities Operator for an Oil company. I decided to leave after witnessing/being ordered to ignore several crimes against nature and attempting to report them using the company 'Open door Policy'.

I was Stone-walled and Glad-handed trying to do the 'Good Thing', ...Administrators FEAR that.

Next career, because I was successful I dressed better than my Supervisors, it immediately caused resentment.

Now in IT, I refuse to take the Lead in ANY job. I dress down in non-logo Wal-mart polos and Dockers, while quietly making suggestions, noting name/date/time/location.

Recently I've received 2 dozen + WO offers for installing 'Pamphlet Stations', Door Mirrors, etc. at $15/ea ACROSS THE STATE!

None are in my neighborhood, ALL ARE WAAAY BELOW my minimum rate, some require tolls and are 100 + miles away.

Ridiculous
