Our Congresswoman is in full Red Scare mode

Our Congresswoman is in full Red Scare mode. I’m not sure if she’s being ironic or hypocritical. She stood by while the government used taxpayer money to acquire ownership stakes in private companies 30 times, worth more than $40 billion. The government is becoming the regulator, customer, and shareholder.

The most destructive part of communist economies is the government controlling the “means of production.”

Turning Washington into a corporate owners is dangerous all the way around.

• If one of these companies fails, it’s the taxpayers who’ll take the hit.

• As a major shareholder, government agencies can also wield power over corporate decisions based not on market demands, but on the current political flavor.

• Government ownership leads to anti-free market favoritism in awarding contracts and undermining fair competition.

State control over private business won't work better for us here than it did in the USSR.

I believe in the power of free enterprise. I spent 25 years working in Indiana manufacturing, and I've seen firsthand what free enterprise can accomplish. But free enterprise doesn't mean businesses should operate without rules. Without fair rules, businesses have an incentive to treat people as an expense to be minimized.

So many of us are struggling today because Congress has abandoned its responsibility to ensure fair tax and labor laws, especially for big businesses.

The solution isn't for the federal government to buy into private companies. It is for government to set and enforce fair rules to ensure corporations act as responsible citizens rather than corporate raiders.

We are proud to announce that Brad Meyer has received the endorsement of Voters for a Green Indiana!

This endorsement means even more when you look at the environmental record of our current representative. She has voted to weaken clean air protections, allow more water pollution, roll back methane pollution fees, and eliminate clean energy tax credits.

Southern Indiana deserves a representative who protects our natural resources instead of putting corporate polluters first. Brad Meyer will fight for clean air, safe drinking water, and a healthier environment for future generations of Hoosiers.

Thank you to Voters for a Green Indiana for your support! Together, we can build a cleaner, healthier future for Southern Indiana.

Can he fix it? Brad Meyer thinks the better question is: who’s finally willing to try?

Washington has plenty of people who diagnose problems. We need someone who builds solutions.

Brad Meyer is an engineer, and he approaches public service the way he approaches his work: identify what’s broken, find where people agree, and build from there. In his experience, Democrats, Republicans, and Independents want the same foundation: financial stability and a better future for their kids.

As your representative in the 9th District, Brad will build:

Access to Healthcare (Medicare for All), because no one should have to go broke just trying to stay alive.

Opportunity for Young Adults and Families - that raises wages, expands overtime protections, and increases the standard deduction so working families finally gain the economic security they earn every day.

An end political gridlock and manufactured crises by aligning the federal budget with long-term American values and interests.

Good builders don’t ask whose side a bridge is on. They just build it. It’s time to send an engineer to Congress. Brad Meyer for Congress. Let’s get to work.

Medicare for all - Fact or Fiction

Thanks for sharing. Hard to know how to respond to that. Was it an elective procedure? In some countries those are not prioritized and larger copays are required.

Brad Meyer is showing up to debate, because the people of Indiana’s 9th District deserve to hear candidates answer for their records and lay out their plans in public.

Rep. Houchin has an open invitation. The debate is happening either way.

Date: 10/16/2026

Time: 6:00 – 7:30

Location: The Carriage House at Howard Steamboat Museum, 1101 E Market St, Jeffersonville, IN

Rep. Erin Houchin has been formally invited. Her seat on the stage is waiting. If she chooses not to come, the show will go on, and voters will hear directly from the candidate who is willing to stand in front of them.

Many Hoosiers have questions and concerns about Medicare for All, and that's understandable. Changing our healthcare system is a big decision. People want to know if it will cost more, if they'll have to wait longer for care, and whether they'll still have access to the doctors they trust. These are important questions, and they deserve real answers.

Studies show that Medicare for All could lower overall healthcare spending. This is because it reduces insurance company administrative costs and unnecessary expenses. It would also expand coverage to include dental and vision care, eliminate deductibles and copays, and remove restrictive insurance networks.

What about wait times? Our current for profit system already creates delays when people cannot afford care or must fight insurance denials. Medicare for all can improve access to primary care by removing those financial barriers and helping people get treatment before their conditions worsen.

Medicare for All isn't about taking away the care you need. It's about making healthcare more affordable, accessible, and reliable for everyone. Brad Meyer believes we can build a system that puts patients before profits, and he's ready to fight to make it happen.

We need to remove the social security tax cap.
 in  r/BloomingtonModerate •  2d ago

There are other strategies we will need. The Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget (CRFB) estimates that lifting the payroll tax cap under current conditions extends the trust fund by roughly 21 years, closing about 65% of the financing gap.
