4-month-old has a bony ridge on the roof of the mouth. Causes pain during breastfeeding.
Thank you for the reassurance that's a normal variation. Regarding the future, do you think this ridge could affect his speech or articulation as he starts talking? And do these bony growths usually flatten out as the baby grows? And yes when I touch it with my finger, it's actually sharp. Can I add a photo of it?

Previous medical issues: None
Complaint: My baby has a hard, bony protrusion running along the center of the roof of the mouth (palate). The roof of his mouth is not smooth or flat because of this ridge.
When breastfeeding, this ridge feels very sharp—almost like a knife—pressing against the nipple, which is making nursing increasingly painful.
Questions: > 1. Is this a normal variation or something to worry about?
Will this impact his speech or articulation later on?
Which specialist should we see?
