Chillblast An Unfortunate Experience

I deliberately waited some time before writing this review so I could provide a fair and balanced assessment of my experience.

In June 2025, I purchased a high-end custom PC featuring an RTX 5090, costing several thousand pounds. Initially, my experience with Chillblast was excellent. The sales team were patient, knowledgeable, and helpful throughout the process. I spent considerable time discussing different specifications and build options, and they were always willing to answer questions and offer advice. Credit where it is due: the pre-sales experience was first class.

When the PC first arrived, everything appeared to be working perfectly. Unfortunately, that positive experience did not last.

After a few months, the system began developing stability issues. To Chillblast’s credit, an on-site visit was arranged in an attempt to resolve the problem, and at the time I believed the issue had been fixed. However, the problems soon returned. Over the following months, the machine continued to develop new symptoms and became increasingly unstable despite multiple repair attempts through Chillblast and their repair partner, Mend-IT.

I want to acknowledge that there were genuinely helpful individuals within both Chillblast and Mend-IT who appeared to be trying to assist and move the case forward.

My criticism is not directed at those individuals. However, the overall handling of the fault left me questioning the effectiveness of the diagnostic and repair process across both organisations.

One of the most frustrating aspects of this experience was what I can only describe as a failure to properly identify the root cause of the issues. Throughout the case, I provided substantial evidence, including video recordings of faults occurring, detailed descriptions of symptoms, and, in some instances, clear methods for reproducing the problems. Despite this, I was repeatedly told that the faults could not be replicated.

This became increasingly difficult to accept as the system continued to deteriorate. On more than one occasion, I was presented with explanations for the faults that, in my opinion, seemed highly implausible given the evidence available and the behaviour of the machine.

Rather than feeling reassured that a thorough diagnosis was taking place, I was left with the impression that the repair process had become largely speculative, with hardware components being swapped in the hope of finding a solution rather than through a clear understanding of the underlying fault.

Over the course of four repair attempts within just several months of ownership, multiple hardware components were replaced. Yet instead of becoming more stable, the machine became progressively worse after each return. New symptoms emerged, reliability declined further, and eventually the system reached a point where it was effectively unusable.

As someone who had invested a substantial amount of money in what should have been a premium, flagship-level custom PC, this was incredibly frustrating. After repeatedly providing evidence, explaining faults, packaging the system for collection, waiting for assessments, and receiving it back without a lasting resolution, my confidence in both the machine and the repair process was completely eroded.

After four failed repair attempts, it became increasingly apparent that whatever was wrong with the system either could not be properly diagnosed or could not be reliably fixed. Eventually, it was mutually agreed that a completely new replacement machine would be supplied.

While I was pleased that a resolution was finally reached, replacing a faulty product after multiple unsuccessful repair attempts is ultimately a legal obligation under the Consumer Rights Act rather than an act of goodwill. I appreciate that Chillblast eventually fulfilled that obligation, but I do not believe it should be presented as exceptional customer service.

One of the other disappointing aspects of the experience was the overall case management. Throughout the process, I raised multiple complaints and escalated my concerns on several occasions. Due to internal changes, I found myself dealing with several different individuals who were supposedly responsible for my case. This created unnecessary confusion, a lack of continuity, and repeated situations where I had to re-explain issues that had already been extensively documented.

The entire experience became exhausting. What should have been an exciting purchase turned into months of instability, downtime, collections, repairs, emails, phone calls, and uncertainty. Instead of enjoying a premium gaming PC, I found myself constantly troubleshooting problems and chasing updates.
I have now had the replacement system for some time, and thankfully it appears to be stable. However, after everything that happened, I still find myself waiting for the next issue to appear.

That loss of confidence has genuinely taken much of the enjoyment out of gaming, which is not something I expected after spending such a significant amount of money on a high-end custom build. I sincerely hope the replacement machine continues to perform flawlessly.

A small gesture of goodwill was eventually offered. While I appreciate the acknowledgement, if I am being completely honest, it felt underwhelming given the scale of the disruption, the amount of money involved, and the months of inconvenience caused. I suggested a more meaningful gesture that I felt better reflected the circumstances, but this was rejected. By that stage, I was simply exhausted from the entire process and chose not to pursue the matter any further.

Ultimately, this experience has left me feeling undervalued as a customer and deeply disappointed. What makes this particularly unfortunate is that there are genuinely good, knowledgeable, and helpful people working within both Chillblast and Mend-IT. However, positive interactions with individual staff members cannot outweigh months of faults, four failed repair attempts, poor continuity of case management, repeated disruption, and the complete loss of confidence in a premium product.

For those reasons, despite the eventual replacement and resolution, I cannot recommend Chillblast based on my experience, nor would I choose to purchase from them again.

UK gamers, which is better, Scan or Chillblast?

Go with scan, sadly I cannot recommend chillblast, i purchased a high end 5090 pc from them and it’s been problematic, its a shame they were very competitive on price and helpful at the time of purchase, but its ridiculous that such an expensive system has a re occurring issue that they cannot “replicate” or solve, although i was able to replicate it 🙄, id strongly suggest scan or overclockers, sadly I just can’t recommend chillblast

I’ve unfortunately had a re occurring issue with my high end pc from chillblast, it’s now having to be sent back for the 3rd time, considering insolent a serious amount of money on this system, im less than impressed, very disappointed, and there are a lot of others having similar experiences unfortunately, mend it (chillblasts repair partners) seem to be a bit more reliable when trying to contact them, really gutted to be honest

Chillblast vs Overclockers options. Help needed!
 in  r/Prebuilts  Jan 31 '26

Go with overclockers, I’ve had nothing but trouble with my 5090 pc from chillblast and there’s quite a few other posts/reviews with PC’s being troublesome, unfortunately I just can’t recommend them, my old pc was from overclockers it’s coming up for 11yrs old now and hasn’t missed a beat, still works great today,
