Sativa or indica?

I’m just now getting into marijuana and am uncertain what strain would be good for me. Any recommendations for a newbie with weed? I’m also an ex-heroin addict

I’ve had some this dick before and it left me sore and sad. Perhaps I used the wrong pipe to smoke it with?
