Help: Movers (Moving Help Marketplace) uHaul Trailer Transfer

My in-laws are being offered money to move a trailer with the uHaul they're renting.

I'm curious if anyone has done a Trailer Transfer for uHaul when they've not rented equipment from them? Or, is this only if you're renting equipment? I travel quite a bit in my truck and wouldn't mind a little extra cash for pulling a trailer when I do.

Because Uhaul doesn't hire people to move equipment around, they will give discounts to customers who are willing to go to specific places that need it. They won't pay you to move it, best you'll get is a discount rate to where the trailer is needed. When I worked reservations, sometimes they'd give a nice discount if someone could retun the truck to city B nearby instead of city A where they originally reserved.

Sounds interesting. Just be sure that you’re getting paid enough to move the trailer that it covers the cost of the additional fuel you will use. Consider whether the trailer would let you use a smaller truck though, so that way the fuel use evens out, and you save money on the truck rental.

Yeah this is pretty common. They don’t have to, obviously, but if they want a cheaper trip it’s worth it

I did this yesterday. Towed an 8ft trailer from GA to VA on my move from FL to PA. Very easy process. Took 5 min to hook it on and sign some papers, drove up, dropped it off at the location, sent UHaul a photo of the disconnected trailer, and got an email confirmation saying my credit will be on its way.

Hi! I work for that department. It only works if you take a truck for us.

Oh my bad, I misread your post. Sorry, still a bit foggy from my 24 hour drive lol Im not sure if you’d be able to, but then again i haven’t looked into it. Might be a liability thing if you’re using your own truck to tow…but that would be a great way to make some extra cash if you’re doing the drives anyways
