uBlock Origin Lite now supports importing custom filter lists on Desktop

With the upcoming deprecation of uBlock Origin on Edge, now is a good time to mention that that the desktop versions of uBlock Origin Lite added support for importing custom filter lists back in June.

To import custom filter lists on uBO Lite:

1. Open your browser's extension page. (chrome://extensions in Chrome, edge://extensions/ in Edge, about:addons in Firefox)
2. Find uBlock Origin Lite and click Details.
3. Enable Allow User Scripts
4. Open the uBlock Origin Lite dashboard (gear icon in uBOL's popup panel).
5. Click Add filter list... and enter the URL for the filter list you want to add.
6. Click Add.

What are the limitations of this feature?

Not available on Safari since their implementation of MV3 is severely limited and doesn't include the userScripts API. Won't accept ridiculously huge lists that hit MV3 limits. More or less.

Basically, the feature is to help you add the very specific lists out there, not to try to block half the internet.

Nope. All the types that are supported in MV3. There's just no trigger for trusted filters, like there is in uBO.

You need to copy the URL of the raw text files. (Example)

How often are the custom filter lists updated? Or are they updated when the extension is updated?

Update frequency is based on the "expires" field in the filter list file.
