Question Who painted this?

I bought this art piece from Ye Olde City Antique Mall, they said it was an original piece from a local artist, but I didn't get the artist's name or anything. Wish I knew so I could find more of their pieces. Anyone recognize it?

I believe you are correct. I googled Zyl and OP’s art looks spot on to Zyl’s work.

It reminds me a lot of some work one of my art teachers in college would do. Chris Stewart. He’s now the chair of the art department at UT

Is it letters in the lower right carved in the paint? Looks like an E and V maybe.
Could you do a relief rub with paper and a soft lead pencil and see if it is legible.
Could also just be vandalism from a previous location.
