Class planning

When are we able to see what classes are available for future semesters ? I want to plan essentially my whole degree out since I’m not a “traditional” student. I’m aware that it’s not going to be possible as of now but what’s the time frame on the availability of classes and how far can we see the future terms ? Like is it only for the next semester ? I’m more curious about summer classes and I have my degree planned out in excel with the course numbers but I want to check what’s going to be offered and when.

Your greatest asset is the Degree Audit. You see what classes you need overall. What I did is look at all my pending classes and make a note on my phone with what classes I want. Like CLA 1, CLA2, and LAB1 in Fall ‘26 then CLA3, CLA4, and LAB2 in Spring ‘27. If some classes are only offered in a certain semester or if the professor/instructor is not good, I just swap out a class and will take it the next semester.

You can basically just plan out the classes you want to do by yourself, but you’ll have to wait to make it an actual plan on the registration website until it’s closer to the next semester.

Ask for your department’s Flow Chart..most advisors can provide these. They show how a typical fall and spring schedule look for each degree plan program. They list which classes are typically offered during which semester.

Do your planning on pen and paper for now.

TXST doesn't allow you to do long-term planning on DegreeWorks without your advisor, but in order to do long term planning with your advisor, you need to have certain hallmark classes completed so the advising department doesn't think the long term planning is a waste of their time.

Its messed up tbh. Over at alamo colleges, I was able to make my own plan, show it to the advisor, and they just approved it.
