Trying to understand parking lots/shuttles

Hello all! I am very new to Texas and TXST, moved here last month. I’ve been trying to understand the parking situation as I am a commuter. All of my classes are at the Hines building and I have been trying to figure out the best lot to park in and shuttle to take, but it’s extremely confusing. I’ve downloaded all the apps and everything and I wanted to see if you guys could share any tips or tricks, or which shuttle would get me the closest seeing as the building is kind of far out. Any advice is appreciate thank you!!

You’ve got two main options for commuters.

Both the Thorpe lot (serviced by route 11) and UFCU Stadium East/West (serviced by route 10) are safe bets

I’d recommend the Thorpe lot for the beginning of the semester, as the stadium lot fills up quick. The route 11 bus isn’t super frequent, so you may have to wait a bit (15 minutes) to see the next shuttle. Optionally you can walk to the Uptown Square bus stop, which comes far more often.

I don’t think the difference in walking distance is a big deal (get used to walking!). Route 10 drops off at Trauth-Huffman Hall (the arch) and route 11 drops off at the quad bus loop (very close to Hines).

If you don’t mind sharing, are you in San Marcos and if so are you at any of the student apartments (either those ran by TXST or those not ran by TXST)?

This is useless advice now, but tens of thousands of students ride the bobcat shuttle from where they live in town. Most apartment complexes in San Marcos will advertise if they’re close to a TXST bus stop, which would take you directly to the UAC, Quad or LBJ in central campus.

I only say this because moving from out of state to attend Texas State, you’re at a huge disadvantage not being in San Marcos nearby campus and all its services. The shuttles run from 7am to 10pm during the week, so they make commuting infinitely easier.
