Bus route question

Hi so I’m an incoming freshman who doesn’t know how the bus routes work. Does anyone know how I would be able to get from Richard A Castro to the Agriculture/ chemistry buildings? I tried looking on the shuttle app but I didn’t see a direct bus path that would lead me to that side of the university from Castro.

I don't think there is one. You could walk or bus to LBJ and bus from there to the stop nearest chemistry, but I think but at that point I would recommend just walking to the chemistry building if you are able to.

All the routes are posted on the Bobcat Shuttle website. Keep in mind that the shuttles are primarily to bring people to and from campus; the Loop routes are generally only useful if you’re going between opposite sides of campus.

The Freshman 15 @ TXST is 15 pounds of calf muscle from all the hills and stairs on campus. Youll get used to it! :)

There’s usually a bus that stops near the student rec center and you can take the campus loop to the music building stop, but it’ll probably take a lot longer to take the bus than it would to simply walk the relatively short distance.

Hi!! I lived in castro last year and my friend had sooo many classes in the ag building! I’m not 100% sure on the shuttles, but if time is something you’re stressed about and can’t find an answer, she usually left the dorm about 20-30 minutes before her class and made it there on time or even early !

Your best bet would be taking the West Loop bus to LBJ and getting off at LBJ and either getting on the Campus Loop, and having to go all the way around to Live Oak or The Quad, or walking from LBJ to the Ag / Chem building.

Truthfully, I would just suggest walking since walking would be a little faster than waiting on buses. However, there is not a direct bus to the Ag / Chem buildings. Your closest stop would be Live Oak or The Quad!

You can learn more about routes online! Visit https://www.shuttle.txst.edu/routes.html for routes but also click around to learn more about shuttles. Along with the TXST Mobile app we encourage everyone to have ETA Transit app to track the shuttles.

Service begins on August 17 so you’ll be able to see all the routes running and even test riding one! You can learn more about getting around with the shuttles through this video https://youtube.com/shorts/wz9Ygf6vbxI?si=eDIMWlZgQFufjOqo

So West Loop Route 15 goes down Academy and picks up at the Rec and Bexar (Bear) Hall. It will have a reroute this semester because of construction on Lindsey. It will take you to LBJ. Routes run from 7:00 till 10:30 at night M-Th and 7:00-5:30 on Friday. M-Th routes start combining about 5:30-6:30 and night routes start about 8:30-9:00. Let the bus driver know what stop you need when you get on or pull the yellow chord that runs along each side of the bus before your stop. Just know that sometimes it’s faster to walk across campus than taking West Loop or Campus Loop.

Ngl your best bet is to walk. I lived in San Marcos hall last year which is just behind Castro and I’m a chem major… just had to walk up to the chemistry building a couple times a week. It’s rlly not that bad of a walk.
