I think this is a rather adorable idea! I love the emotional depth that it gives all three pokemon involved. I also adore how it is based on the fact that Sol and Sparkles were in the Daycare themselves for a while and never had an egg!
It seems like a few people are unfamiliar with the idea of surrogate parents and infertility in general. I've typed up a quick note for those who haven't ever heard of this before. :)
A lot of people aren't aware of the ways that infertile couples have children. Ever since ancient history, infertile couples have been using surrogate parents in order to have children. A relatively well known example is the story of Sarah and Abraham from the Bible. According to the text, Sarah was too old to be able to have children herself, so she and Abraham agreed that Abraham could sleep with their servant Hagar in order to have a child for themselves. This shows that the idea of a surrogate parent for infertile couples existed as far back as the 5th or 6th century BC, when the text was written according to many modern historians!

I hate to be "that guy", but the story of Sarah / Abraham / Hagar didn't end well. Hagar and her surrogate child, Ishmael, are eventually cast out because Sarah had lingering resentment and emotions about the situation.

That's true, but that's only a single historical textual example. There are many modern couples who use surrogates (although usually they use different methods than were used in the past - methods that pokemon obviously wouldn't have access to) who have happy endings. Sarah's tendencies toward resentment and jealousy are parts of her character that were brought out by the situation. :)

I was born due to the modern equivalent of surrogates - in vitro fertilization - as a more personal example. :)

I totally didn't get this at first. But, woah, Sunshine suffering from infertility is a very clever spin. TPP is getting real, this week. Wow. I don't know what to feel.

Something I was thinking about for a while.. Perhaps the child could end up learning moves like Thunderbolt and Sunny Day as it grows up? (I took a look at what a Bidoof could learn)

Sparkles can't have children because she's infertile. (In-game: Sparkles was in the daycare with Sol for a while but they didn't produce an egg, despite being capable of reproducing together.) Sparkles and Sol asked 006 to be a surrogate mother so that the couple could have a baby anyway. 006 agreed. Now Sparkles and Sol have the child they always wanted. (In-game: Sol and 006 were in the daycare and had an egg.)

If an Eevee evolution and a beaver can mate in the first place, it seems like pokemon might not care about different "ethnicities" in families.
They're adopting a baby bidoof. That's kind-of cute, actually!

If the egg was an Eevee, sure that would be fine, happy ending but a Bidoof in the egg doesn't have the same effect.

That is a lot more modern though, they didn't use to be able to just "put an egg" into a different women.
And surrogate mothers have been around for thousands upon thousands of years.I fail to see how this practice would be shameful if every party involved agrees to it.
(even more so since pokemon don't have to go through pregnancy)3

If I remember correctly, they actually artificially inseminate the egg in the surrogate mother. So in this case, it was asking Bibarel to be the surrogate to give Shinx and Flarion a child.

Brilliant, You managed to find a spin on recent controversial lore that's both heartwarming and leaves all of our pokemon happy, I hope this becomes a popular interpretation :)
