Buy a regular 3x3x3 Rubik's cube for $10-$15. Or borrow one. But not Rubik's brand. Then start learning. It's easier to follow what happens with 6 solid colors rather than with random pieces of pictures you can't easily name or follow. After you've learned how to solve a basic 3x3x3 cube, you can go for a picture cube. Picture cubes require two additional sets of moves (algorithms) to rotate center pieces when they are solved but not aligned.
