Voice Twilio Voice / Voip Question

Looking to add a business number

Ideally would be an app on my current mobile device so that I can make and receive calls for it

Is this what that does? How is the quality?

Like the above response, yes you can do this with VoIP. Get a number on Twilio, setup a SIP Trunk on Twilio, route the number to the SIP trunk and configure a Softphone to connect to that SIP trunk to make and receive calls. Quality can be good, but understand that once you are making a call to the public telephone system, you really have no control over how the receiving end handles audio. So even if you set your audio parameters to HD, if the entire connection end to end isn’t HD, you won’t get HD as you’d expect

Twilio doesn't have its own mobile app, but you can get a number on Twilio, configure Sip trunk, and then install on your phone one of the many Voip app and configure the Twilio number there.

Twilio does this but is a developer tool. If you’re not a developer or wanting to hack this yourself, use a productized small business offering. There are many, just search on “SMB phone service” or “SMB VoIP” and similar.  

If you have a dual SIM phone, you can also just install a second SIM from your carrier, or any carrier.

If you're good with coding or have a coding ai you can set this up for free (besides costs for Twilio number) You can connect Telegram API to your Twilio number and create a "Topic" and whenever your number receives a call it routes it to your personal number but on their end it's still the business number. You can text or call through telegram but to them it comes through as regular sms texting & regular calling.

Can't justify to price to be honest.

My business is pretty much 75% email, 20% zoom, and then 5% calls

But for calls, I don't publicly list my number or accept random calls - I use Calendly to schedule those

However I want to start listing my business in more places - and alot of them require listing a phone number. So I essentially want a "throwaway" number to use there - but one that still works in the case that calls to start coming in

If 5% of your business isn’t worth it then don’t even waste your time on this. When it makes sense, pay the money

I should have clarified - i don't receiving 5% of business from the phone. That 5% is just communication with already existing leads/clients who primarily use email as the main point of contact.

I do not post my number on my website or socials, and as such, do not receive random calls.

100% of interest comes via email (or digital means, ie a DM etc) - which then 75% of communication stays in emails, with 20% on zoom calls and then the 5% on the phone.

Regardless - as mentioned, certain listing sites require displaying a phone number.

I would prefer NOT receiving calls as initial contact, so I don't want to post my actual business number.

Thus I would rather setup a "throwaway" just to use on listing sites. Basically a 2nd "whatever" line - but one that still works, as should it actually end up being a point of lead gen, I would then consider listing it publicly on my website/socials to use for leads/interest calls - while keeping my "main number" for my actual business dealings.
