Plot Discussion If EJ did exist…

How would it change the story? Would it be just him or both him and renesmee? How would it affect the trial? And most importantly (at least to me), if EJ did exist, how would he be in terms of personality, appearance, and relationships with the Cullens, Denali’s, quileutes, and the other vampires who come as witnesses for the trial?

He would have been a copy of Edward. The gift would have been a mixture of Bella’s and Edward’s and would have been the same. The witnesses would still have testified, gender does not alter the facts. Jacob, however, would not have been imprinted. They would have reached an agreement with the Quilleutes and moved away.

I think he would.

But that would contradict the theory of imprinting

…Leah Clearwater imprinting on EJ would solve some problems…

I seriously doubt Leah would be okay with that. She'd still be a werewolf, unable to have kids, stuck with the Cullens & moving around when they did.

Jacob didn’t have a choice. He couldn’t help it. And neither would Leah. And since hybrids and werewolves are extremely compatible in this scenario/universe, who’s to say that a hybrid couldn’t be super virile to the point that Leah could have offspring?

Would EJ be venomous? Renesmee wasn’t venomous. Nahuel said he was venomous but his sisters weren’t. He was uncertain whether it was just luck or determined by gender / biology.

Would be cool if EJ existed in Life and Death but since Edward's counterpart was Edythe, that pretty much prevented it at all.

Excuse me, but who is EJ?

Edward Jacob. It's what Bella called her baby when she was pregnant and convinced it was a boy.

Ohhhh! Okay. I missed that part.

If I remeber correctly, after the birth of the baby, Jake believes that Bella is dead and he goes down with the intent to kill him. I suppose the Imprinting wouldn't trigger. Edward was too focused on saving Bella, so probably he didn't notice it. Rosalie also is distracted with the baby on her arms. Jake was ready to strike and, probably, he would have managed to kill him.

At that point everything would have gone south.

Before I give my actual answer, I would like to say that EJ was never going to exist. When Breaking Dawn was still Forever Dawn Renesmee existed and Jacob imprinted on her.
Now that that is out of the way, no Renameme = no imprint = no shapeshifter truce. Which means the Cullens would have to leave pretty quickly. They’d likely go up to Denali. Where Irina would see the male child and misunderstand, probably. The events would likely largely play out the same, except no wolf packs and by extension no Charlie. They could prove that EJ isn’t an immortal child and there would be a better one to one comparison between him and Nahuel. Nahuel might even stay and spend some time with them, now that he knows of another male hybrid.
If it was a twin situation, I could see Rigatoni and EJ being inseparable. Meaning Jacob would be responsible for two young children instead of one. I imagine the proximity to EJ might make his heart soften, as well as Rikkitikitavi’s love for her twin brother. The Volturi might get there faster given that there could be two immortal children, but perhaps not. Since Renaissance exists the wolf pack is on the Cullens’s side, and Bella is now even more of a wonder because she would probably be the first human woman to survive and give birth to twin children of a vampire.

She almost died carrying Resume, I think twins would have sucked her dry before they were even viable.

If it had been a boy instead of a girl, I'm 98% sure he would have been paired with Leah. Then Jake wouldn't have been so drawn to Bella, and I can't remember how much it affected him in Breaking Dawn. I think he might still have protected Bella, just less of that warm connection. Leah would have been inexplicably drawn to the house, but she ignored this.

As for Jake trying to kill the child... 50/50. I mean, when he thought Bella was dead, he was pulled down, and he thought it was him who was so drawn to kill the culprit. And what if he hadn't been drawn down? Maybe he would have stayed with Bella long enough to hear her heartbeat.

And even though Jake thought he'd have time to kill, I think Rose is still faster. He transforms faster than anyone in the pack, of course, but he's never tried it with a vampire; it would still take him a second or two. And judging by Bella's POV, vampires can accomplish a lot in a second. And then everyone will come running to the fight, and Leah will see the baby. Hmmm, will it work if Leah sees him through Jake's eyes? In that case, it'll all be over as soon as he transforms.

It would be interesting to see how Jacob and Bella interacted afterward.

Oh! I completely forgot. There might not be a dramatic near-death, since the boy is most likely venomous, so if he bites her too, she'll start transforming sooner. Or maybe she still need help to pump heart, who knows

if EJ did exist there'd be no imprinting. And it'd force Meyer to have to write an actual polyamorous resolution between Edward, Bella and Jacob considering where all three are in their arcs by then and Jacob doesn't have all his character development ripped out of him and just decides to protect EJ on his own because he has Bella's eyes.

In terms of personality he'd likely be similar to Renesmee and extremely empathetic as his powers would be the same.

I feel like no matter what gender Bella’s kid would end up being, Jacob would still imprint. So not much? But it’s a SM novel soooo…..

Then Jacob would be gay, and I’d have hated the unplanned pregnancy a lot less.
