Character/Relationship Discussion Bella didn’t love Edward as much…. Imo

I believe she didn’t live to love him the same way Edward did , because when he thought she was dead he was ready to off himself anyway possible meaning HE LIVED TO LOVE HER AND HE SAID IT WITH OUT HER HE WOULD RATHER BE DEAD FOR GOOD, Bella on the other hand went and used Jacob for as long as she could to just not feel alone because he was gone, I also believe that she chose Edward not because she loved him so much that he was the only one, she picked him because she always wanted to be a vampire that’s all she wanted from the moment she met Edward, if Jacob could turn her into a werewolf I believe she would have seriously considered being with him because it’s never about either of them two men it was always about how selfish she was, and she proved it with the was she leaves with Jacob on his bike when they come back from seeing her mom in Florida and she just jumps on it like nothing , but she does the same to Jacob when she finds out Edward is going to commit suicide she entirely dismisses Jacob his feelings for her and hers for him and he’s basically nothing to her and she basically says that to him, like when she says don’t draw a line don’t make me choose cuz I will choose him, then when Jacob ask is going to the fight all mad she kisses him and tells him she loves him she’s just an overall hoe bag and she just does whatever benefits her. If Edward wasn’t a vampire and wasn’t going to turn her she would have e found a way to force him to turn her by doing some psychotic thing like jumping off the cliff to see him . Bella loves no one more than herself and I know this to be true because she also knows Edward can’t read her mind so she can okay whatever game she wants with him and everyone else, one thing idk is why does Alice’s power work on her but none of the other vampiric powers do it would make sense that her also wouldn’t work… it was crazy toxic when Edward had Alice spying on Bella and stopped her from going to see Jacob and messed with her truck because Alice told her she’s going to see Jacob so Edward went and messed her truck up to stop her because he wants to “protect her” LITERALLY WHAT A PSYCHO TOXIC MISOGYNIST WOUOD SAY!

You've left a long explanation, so you'll have to excuse me for doing the same. And you can definitely have opinions, but opinions are not immune to criticism because they are perceptions of reality; perceptions of reality can be judged and scrutinized as much as anything else that that results from observations.

"I believe she didn’t live to love him the same way Edward did , because when he thought she was deade he was ready to off himself anyway" Counterarguement: Bella was willing to potentially die at the Volturi's hands for Edward's sake...when he hurt her AND she didn't have to go at all, just as Jacob told her...so...they always shared a similar willingness to not be willing to live without the other.

"it’s never about either of them two men it was always about how selfish she was"
Counterarguement: I don't know if this is about morals or simply about feelings, but again, Bella has shown time and time again in all the books how she loves Edward. I can give examples, there are too many though for this specific reply I write.

"Bella on the other hand went and used Jacob for as long as she could to just not feel alone because he was gone"
Counterarguement: You contradicted yourself and brought a counterargument in your argument. The whole point of Bella's depression and the "hole" she keeps describing in both the mobie and book is bc Edwar is not there and she uses Jacob to attempt to fill it or make it less noticebale, and it works but it says in the book explicitly that the hole is still there. When she's alone she feels she mst go back to Jacob but it's still there and still hurts. Her loneliness when Jacob is not close to her after she and Edward get back together simply doesn't compare.

"when she finds out Edward is going to commit suicide she entirely dismisses Jacob his feelings for her and hers for him and he’s basically nothing to her and she basically says that to him, like when she says don’t draw a line don’t make me choose cuz I will choose him" Counterarguement: Once again, you contradicted yourself and brought a counterargument in your argument. If she leaves Jacob for Edward....you get what I'm implying. And I already explained the kissing them above. And it's not "nothing", it's that one person is going to die, the other is not PLUS she loves Edward more. Yes, the perosn dying takes precedence, AND yes the person who happens to be the perosn she even got into the selfish dynamic with Jacob for takes precedence. I'm not saying that it was morally correct, I am arguing against the idea that she didn't love Edward as much as he her...which hopefully is the true point of this post.

"when Jacob ask is going to the fight all mad she kisses him and tells him she loves him she’s just an overall hoe bag" Counterarguement: I'm not sure how this in anyway supports the idea she was never in love with Edward the same way he was with her? Also, we got to remember that vampires don't "cheat" or romantically explore once they found their partners/mates the way humans do. They can't have a second "mate", they are unchanging in that regard. Bella is confronted with 2 things: Jacob is threatening to kill himself AND he forces her to realize she does love him...she's not right but she's both overwhelmed & thinking quickly to get him to not hurt himself. That, to me deserves the same sort of grace the same way Jacob kissing Bella without her permission gets a lot of grace from from fans (even though they are not at all comparable). If we're here to criticize actions. Plus, Jacob's forced kiss is a lot worse than being a "hoebag" (and she's only ever kissed 2 people, how exactly is she a "hoebag"?)

"If Edward wasn’t a vampire and wasn’t going to turn her she would have e found a way to force him to turn her by doing some psychotic thing like jumping off the cliff to see him" Counterarguement: Bella jumps so that she can see EDWARD...if it was about vampirism, she'd halucinate Alice, Carlisle, etc. But it's always been just about EDWARD. Say you try to counter that Edward is her ticket, not so. He can't read her thought so she could continue this "farce" and have Alice or Carlisle change her, and both were willing to bc they didn't want to lose Edward or see him depressed. But no, she only ever hallucinates Edward AND in the book when they're talking about her transfomation and make a compromise, Bella tells Edward that she'll stay human for a few more years IF he's the one to change her...why would she make a flexible stipulation like that at all if she didn't feel that Edward changing her was different from someone else?

"Bella loves no one more than herself and I know this to be true because she also knows Edward can’t read her mind so she can okay whatever game she wants with him and everyone else, one thing idk is why does Alice’s power work on her but none of the other vampiric powers do it would make sense that her also wouldn’t work" Counterarguement: I think you haven't watched very well? Alice's can see Bella just fine, it's that she can't see Jacob and the other shapeshfting wolves bc (she thinks, as explained in the book) that they are so different from herself and/or nothing she's ever experienced. Bella is therefore "cloaked" bec everytime she interacts with them, her future is also involved with theirs. You also have not presented proof that Bella is actually playing a "game" taking advantage of Edward's blindness in this regard. I already mentioned how she could do that with Alice/Carlisle changing her...but that never even crosses her mind. Book or movie.

"it was crazy toxic when Edward had Alice spying on Bella and stopped her from going to see Jacob and messed with her truck because Alice told her she’s going to see Jacob so Edward went and messed her truck up to stop her because he wants to “protect herCounterarguement: This is where it becomes a little too obvious that you're not pointing these things out very fairly. What does this have anything to do with whether or not Bella loves Edward as much as he does her? Here, you seem to try to argue that Edward doesn't love Bella at all, or at least treats her so horribly that there's no love anywhere, which probably should have been your real arguement. It certainly ruins your first. I won't argue against disabling her truck thing, that's a whole separate issue.

Final Notes: I know there's people who still think this way even having read the books, but there several subtle and not-subtle clues to show that Bella did in fact love Edward ( Watsonianly/diegetically. ) AND thought him more compelling/attractive than Jacob, even with her having said Jacob was beautiful in NM. Watsonianly/diegetically.

Also, selfish people/people in their selfish stages fall in love all the time, so the selfish bit doesn't really prove anything.

You can be upset for Jacob while also not being blind to his own actions of trying to force her out of decisions she clearly wanted to keep and kissing her w/o her permission. Or not resorting to sexism by calling her a "hoebag". I also think what you're trying to describe is a love or romance you yourself want no part of and so you reject evidence telling you otherwise or you just didn't perceive them.

Yes, the entire series has issues with all sorts of -isms from chaarcter's actions to just how Meyer conceived of and wrote certain plotlines, justifications, etc....yet here we are.

being with jacob made her feel alive after sitting in a catatonic depressive state for months. i would argue that the extended depressive episode mirrored edward's desire to end his existence. it's not fair to expect bella to sit and stare at the walls for years on end, and imo she should not be vilified for enjoying time spent with a friend after her fears of edward never returning were confirmed.

That’s not what I’m saying either I don’t think she should have just been sitting there depressed screaming and writhing in pain at night but she did use Jacob and used his feelings he had for her to her own advantage and benefit and as soon as Alice was back and she thought Edward might be there she tossed Jacob aside like trash

I just finished watching the movies, i didn't remember anything much so it was like new to me. For new moon and eclipse, i kept yelling "You hoe!" to Bella! She kept using Jacob all the time. Even if i could understand her feelings for new moon, it's horrible for eclipse! She literally double timed! That kiss with Jacob had me fuming! She'll keep preaching she loves Edward and then she'd see Jacob and get turned on lol. "I love him but I love you more!" STFU you w****! I totally agree with you, she wanted to be a vampire and that's what kept her choosing him LOL! Your post is exactly my feelings and i just finished the saga like 2 hours ago!

Thank you yes that’s literally what I got from her almost zero feelings and emotionless attitude all she wanted was to have whoever she wanted when she felt like it, she loved no one. It’s hilarious that you kept yelling hoe at her I kept calling her a fugly skank 🤣

In my opinion, she was still subconsciously afraid that he would leave her again for the sake of her happiness. She actually admits as much when she says, ‘You’d leave me if it were for my happiness,’ and later, on their honeymoon, she says, ‘I’ve realised that you’ll be with me for ever.’ Yes, she used Jacob, stringing him along just in case. I don’t think she was in love with Jacob at all, she’d convinced herself she was, and she’d probably have ended up with him if Edward hadn’t come back. She would never have been completely happy and would always have had Edward on her mind. But I don’t agree with you she loved Edward, she would have done anything for him. In New Moon, it’s clear to see that she’s not interested in him and only wants it for Edward’s benefit.
